I can understand your frustration, but to chase a child to the point where he was genuinely scared, screaming and crying and pinning him up against the fence before soaking him, meant the rest of us watching on went from mild amusement and agreement at your actions to then having to check this poor child was actually alright . . . Most of the people around us were now disgusted with your behaviour.
In fact, when your passenger caught the other kid he looked so intensely embarassed he was picking on a kid when this poor sod just stood there and let himself get soaked it about summed it up as being rather pethetic.
I fully understand your frustration, I fully appreciate the reaction, but next time, ask yourself if it were a bloke your size, bigger, would you do the same thing ?

ok johno,ask your self this.if you had been driving my sag like i was,just sat in line like i was.....then like a bucket of water from them came in the window all over my electics on the dash and my £2000 sat pioneer avic,my phone,camera what would you do?i dont mind in my face,over me out side the car or down wheel spin ally when you are ready for them.but on the camp like that ...no!
it's a quest and a half just getting the tvr's to france and back let alone having water squirted all over the electrics.we all no how fickle these cars can be.
would have been great having the car on a low loader all the way back home because some little monkey was 'having a laugh'

Did you chase all of them as well ?It's this maintallity of "oh it's just kids being kids" that leaves us who are actually stretched for cash to own the cars we own, who end up suffering the most. Just because some of us have nice cars, does not mean we are rich and can "get over it"...it often means we've boycotted family, friends and other aspects of our lives to attain a bit of kit we have pride in.
To then have a group of kids, abuse this, while their parents are too busy getting pissed up, setting off fireworks at 4am Saturday night and/or using and abusing other people, it's in my opinion totally acceptable for these kids to be taught that there might be negative reaction, from their actions - as it clearly isn't coming from their parents!
Yes, the common Le Mans enthusiast, might be able to weaken his experience of the weekend by avoiding such peoples. However, if the people doing such thing were adults, bigger than you...would you expect them to be using water pistols???
Someone I know recorded the antics and whitnessed, beer cans being thrown in innocent peoples cars, who refused to do burnouts. And on top of this, a banger/fire cracker chucked in the sunroof of another unsuspecting driver...If it was me, in the heat of the moment, I would have done the unforgetable.
Unless of course, you're so much of a robot that you're able to push aside your emotions...good luck with that I say. If the police present won't punish these people, and their parents/peers won't either, then it can only be left down to other people and by the sounds of things, Fred Flinstone replica's did the right thing...Good on you.
This is what I said in an earlier thread quoted below . . . I've just jacked £7k of my own money on getting my car to a standard I wanted. I had to run the gauntlet of mindless pricks with them chuckling beer over my car . . . Suggest you read my post.
I do not condone the behaviour and fully understand the frustration, however, a grown bloke chasing a child to the point where he was genuinely scared for what was going to happen to him was fair enough to a point, then to pin him against a fence when he cried and soak him was going too far, the lad deserved to be soaked, but not scared stless, he'd proved the point of actions can have consequences. It was the over reaction I was commenting on, not condoning the beahviour that led to it.
If said owner had collared the kid, got him to lead him to his dad and then done that to him for letting his son do what he was doing then I'd have had backed him up, but picking on a 10yr old kid was rather pathetic and embarrassing to watch as it went past amusing retribution.

However, after spending a lot of money and time getting my car into the condition it is now I shouldn't have to risk it with this collection of idiots. I choose to go to St Saturnin on Friday mornings as for me this is part of the Le Mans experience, enjoying the other cars and allowing people to enjoy my car if they should choose.
I don't appreciate having beer slung over my car because this year I chose not to enterain a burnout (my simple reasoning is 2 or 3 fold, one, they seem to want to come and assist you doing a decent burnout and a I don't one of their sovereign rings scratching what is only 5wk old paint, I don't want to encourage them any longer as it's not entertaining and even for some of those who perform for them they get soaked anyway, also as BB alluded to, when making his way through them last year he got a face full of water and it only takes one person to step of the kerb etc etc . . )
You claim I should manage my weekends at Le Mans better ?! I camp in Houx to save time getting up and down to the race track, we've been going for a decade and know what we're doing and where we're going. I have no choice in which way I come into Houx campsite and therefore are you suggesting i should now park my car up for the whole weekend because of these idiots ? Not go to St Saturnin ? Go and come back before dawn as they won't be up ?
Whether or not I would have got out of my car is debatable, undoubtedly as 6'4 and 17 stone of pissed off englishman unfolded himself from his drivers seat the childish wimp would have been away on his toes anyway, the difference is, they'd know the car and who I was and can exact revenge at their chosen point. Additionally from what we saw the people who choose to exact revenge were the ones who got it in the neck from the gendarmes, not the dicks causing the issue in the first place.
I'll continue to go to Le Mans and I'll continue to suffer the idiots who take this essential part of Le Mans that little bit too far, the vast majority are good natured and want to see great car's given some stick. Unfortunately like eveything in life there's a few bad apples. But to suggest I'm the one that should stop doing what I want to do because of these idiots makes me a less than agreeable to your argument. . .
Next year I am currently investigating a muck spreader, simply driven down the Houx access road, slowly, fully engaged shifting it's load as designed would really teach em a lesson.

...I'm sorry to hear of your experience/s. To bite your tongue so to speak, does get more respect from me, than from retaliating.
But, in my experience growing up in a rough neighbourhood - targetting a troubled child/teenagers family about their behaviour is the worst thing you can do. In their eyes, they are angels...they can't do wrong...

i was in one of the cars that these kids soaked the day before and it wasnt funny and could have been expensive. we stopeed the car and got out and the kids ran off and hid and obviously saw how angry we was but this did not stop them from repeating this action many times over during the next two days so maybe they got what was necessary to hopefully stop them from being the ones throwing fireworks and beer cans in ten years time.
