Le Mans bad behaviour

Having watched the superb couverage of this years Le Mans on Eurosport, I had been toying with maybe going back next year after a gap of around 15 years; I'm already a huge fan of the Classic and looking forward to my return trip in a few weeks time. However, it's only Tuesday, and already the stories on the forums about the apalling behaviour of the (predominantly English) yobs out there are quite sufficient to deter me for ever. I'm as up for a laugh and joke as the rest, possibly more so than a lot, but the possibility of driving along in my 911 with the roof down and being either soaked by some dick with a Super Soaker, having a glass of beer (or worse) thrown in, or being commanded to do a burn-out by some intimidating gang of pissed up idiots, is not my idea of a weekends motor racing. I just hope they have no interest in the big event next month, and keep their distance.
I made the school boy error and left my window open and got soaked, I got to admit I saw RED and got straight out my car to crack the guy. But with the freanch police looking at me I decided to be tatefull and get a freash carton of Orange juice out of my boot and covered him in it.
Think I got the last laugh as he was left sticky for the sunny Friday afternoon.

The 'yobbish' behaviour this year was certainly at a lower level than the past 2 years, hopefully it will continue to decline. The worst behaviour I saw was from French and Danish fans, the English were not solely to blame (for a change!)

I suppose the negative posts won't be balanced out by people saying they had an excellent, incident-free time. I did (the latter) - and didn't see any bad behaviour, but hope I haven't jinxed myself for the Classic. Although two in our group did have their wallets pick-pocketed - same day, but they weren't together (and I wasn't with either of them)

By not going you are giving in to the minority. We arrive, park up and don't use the cars until we leave, avoid all the problem area's, use the tram and have a great time. Don't let them beat the true race fans.
Agreed. We take bicycles with us to get about the place and the cars don't move all weekend. The traffic is horrendous anyway, cycling is the way to go. Just remember to take your lights or saddle bag with you when you look it up. Some pikey had mine away a few years ago!I'm just back after my first visit since 2004, plus it was my 17 yr old daughters first ever visit, didn't have any trouble at all, however we stayed well away from the mad friday crowd, the drivers parade in town was far better, plus we've made friends with a really nice French family who we intend to catch up with again next year.
Stay on a secure site, personally I and several others we shared a lot of beer with on Sunday night were massively impressed with the 1st tickets/Pistonheads campsite, all credit to Brian and his team, we are now looking to book it again for next year....
What a great weekend... don't let the idiots put you off...

It was my first time at Le Mans and I was aprehensive about going on my own, I just left my car at the campsite Thursday and drove it again when I left Monday morning. I walked everywhere and got a lift into town for the parade although I did get wet through an open window of the people carrier I was in on the way... I did see drunken people but nothing to put me off going again next year; even the experience of the tunnel and the driving to and from Le Mans -the hardest thing was trying to find my campsite in the pouring rain Thursday!! It is the best time I have had - the atmosphere is incredible from the moment you get to Folkestone and all the cars are arriving to wait for the train. I could not fault the overall experience.
I think it's actually wrong to point the finger at the Brits for a lot of the bad behaviour - the t
t element is split reasonably evenly around the crowd with as many French and Danes pissed out of their gourds and behaving like they have too many fingers to count their IQs.
It's also wrong to be put off going to Le Mans because of this. OK, it shouldn't have to be a consideration but it's easier to avoid the trouble than it is to find a toilet with paper in it at Le Mans!
We drove down Thursday and did a quick supermarket run first thing Friday morning. We had no trouble driving past Houx at that time as the knuckle draggers would still have been trying to work out how to open the zips on their tents. The cars then stayed, safe and sound on the camp site till Monday morning.
I'm not suggesting people that drive around the site late Friday afternoon/evening are asking for trouble, just that if you don't drive at those times you won't find it.

Issue was while trying to get away with a face full of water I nearly hit a woman and her kid trying to cross the road and then got beer on me and the seats
Have a sense of humour and was so hot I didn't mind about water but people get silly..... I was more cross as my mate knew I was rolling topless and didn't take the side streets !

Didn't see anything I would class as bad behaviour myself. I stayed on Houx Annexe for the first time and was led to believe it was very rowdy, but generally it was just groups of friends enjoying themselves. Some loud music and fireworks but nothing I didn't expect, and had seen in years previously.
Out and about was the same, we went into the town on friday, had a meal and a few beers and a generally good time. Maybe we just avoided the trouble spots.

The Danes were out in force as usual, but I'm sad to say more than the fair share of the aggresive behaviour I saw came from Brits. The French seemed to be drunk and - how can I put it - outgoing, but actually quite friendly. They'd come up and randomly want to shake hands or high five, but those launching bottles and pissing on passing cars seemed to be the 'Brits abroad'.I didn't go last year because of work but this year was definately quieter than two years ago. We came back from the drivers parade around midnight and the police were keeping the roundabout clear so people had moved up the road. We stopped for 5 mins and most of the nobs had foreign accents this time and the Brits seemed to be a minority for a change. Fair play though to the ones that didn't want to play, they just didn't stop and the choice was get out the way or get hit by the car. Unfotunately they had enough of a brain to realise a car might hurt them.

Really goog behaviour thius year on the Mulsanne and down in Arnage, did not see any trouble , if anything it was a bit too quiet, only decent cars really where the two F40 and F50 in Arnage. Police presence was huge.
So not sure if it was the footbals and lack of idiots or the huge Police presence or a mixture of the two.

From what I saw and whitnessed of the breif time I was there this year, the British were not the problem. They were a problem, some of us always will be (usually the kids who have been dragged along unwillingly by their parents) but for me the other foreigners were far more disgusting to be around.
It wouldn't put me off going altogether, but as said, it'd be advisible to remember where the crappy bits are.
