In the village there was a fenced off grassy area which had some historic LM cars, and next to the Elford Porsche 917 was a Ferrari.

It was so utterly gorgeous that I forgot to take any notice of what particular model it was, so if anyone can put me out of my misery by enlightening me it would be much appreciated !

Thanks

Nick

Are you talking about the grassy area which was next to the Citroen electric car stand? The two main Ferraris in the grassy square that i most remember was an F40 LM (with a black carbon rear spoiler) and a 275 LM (with 3 lights attached to the side of the rear wing) Like the car in the picture bellow.
Is this the grassy square you are talking about mate?

The car next to Elfords Porsche on Saturday night was a red Abarth. Are you sure it was a Ferrari??

Not now, no !

It was big and red and wide and utterly gorgeous ! I have photographs of it (at home) but I can't recall what model it was, but I'm *reasonably* sure it was a Ferrari.

Yes, that was the area.

I've just done some more googling with some less specific terms and I found out what the car was !

It was a Ferrari 312P Cigala:

Yes, the 312P. Might also have been seen being driven in a very spirited fashion by David Franklin at last year's Goodwood FoS. A very rare car - almost forgotten by history due to the greater success of the preceeding 330P4 and subsequent 512S and flat-12 312PB.
