Hi Folks,

Imagine my joy when I managed to secure three rooms in Alencon for the two nights leading up to Le Mans 2011 - Thursday 9 & Friday 10 June.

Now one mate can't raise the funds to go because he's lost his job and can't find another, while the other has a new baby...

So my pain is someone else's opportunity. The rooms are in a centrally located hotel, not going to name it in public on here but happy to give full details via PM. Each room is for 1 to 2 people.

Basically they cost a total of £276 and that's all I want for them, even though they're like gold dust!

Like I say, PM me for details - first come first served...

No harm in giving this one final bump. I've pretty much accepted that we're gonna be out of pocket on these rooms but if anyone is still making plans for this year's race and wants some dirt cheap accommodation make me an offer!

With respect, I think the reticence is due to the fact that, although you might have thought this was an unbelievable tekker, Alencon is still a full 60km's away from the track. Hardly an easy day to day, race in - race out location. It might work for somebody looking for a pre-camping or post camping hot shower and clean towels, but for the rest of us... unappealing without an "on call" designated driver! And the dates are such that even the least inclined to camp, would still sooner be on circuit for the late night revelry.

I disagree...Alencon is absoultely no problems with being a base for the Le Mans weekend, done it many times. It's not a problem getting in to the circuit. I must admit that I always sleep at the circuit on Saturday night. THE MAJOR difficulty is getting a single room for two in the first place as Alencon is signed up by the agencies some time in advance.

This year we're staying 120km from Le Mans again...no problem at all.

If you want to be there you have to be prepared to put up with a little inconvenience maybe!

Yep - that's why I thought they'd get snapped up by someone. Still you live and learn, eh?
