Anyone stayed at Hotel Arbor before?

I have booked my family into the Hotel Arbor for the 2012 Le Mans weekend (kids + camping = major headache in my book...). It's my husband's 40th and he's always wanted to go to Le Mans. At the moment it remains a secret 
I have seen from a few prior topics/posts that this hotel has been suggested as a great viewing point. I really hope that it is, but would welcome any comments from anyone who has previously stayed there. Also, how easy is it to access other areas of the circuit from there? At the moment we are booked in for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday night, just considering whether to book the Thursday night as well...

excellent viewing point but nightmare to see anything else, mulsane corner is about 1 30minute walk away which is good screens/ corner etc but to get to the main stand is horrible i walked it last year and never again (thankfully after 1 hour of walking was picked up by a policeman and taken to the circuit lol.
As stated it is a long walk to anywhere else but it is a great place to stay. You need to purchase a parking permit so that you will be able to drive to the 'Village'/paddock area where the majority of the viewing areas are. I would definitely book for the Thu night and plan to arrive early on Thursday so that you can catch the evening qualifying session.
yeah push bike good if hes into it however it is still a long way, had a look on google maps and with the roads that are open during the racing it is 10.3 km to get to the porshe curves and the entrance to the main areas of the circuit, please also remember the roads are unlit and people are driving very quick (as it is le mans), use a car and get him a parking vert pass which is the closest car park on the main site from you! http://orders.teamlangoustine.com/park-c-34.html?o... £35 this year also traffic to this isnt that bad from arbour!

Would have thought it would be cheaper for single/double rooms - I imagine they take as much advantage of the race as they can and understandably charge through the nose!

Excellent choice. I have stayed there and had a great weekend. There are usually some team or tyre people staying there. When I was last there they had the big concrete wall around the garden. We were lucky in that we just parked the 4x4 alongside the wall and sat on the roof drinking wine watching the cars go through the chicane. I think the wall has now been replaced by fencing.
Take some ear plugs as its a bit noisey if you intend to sleep !
The food is very good if not cheap. As has been mentioned you really need to be using a car to get about.
On the saturday night after a very nice meal we managed to get them to open the pool so we could sit in it drinking champers listening to the cars go past, very special.

@johnhere - knowing my husband, after he has been once (following years of "we've got to go to Le Mans..."), he will want to go every year, so may be checking out your log cabins in future! (just looked at the website - very nice set up you have. Can just see my son ending up in that lake though...) ...plus, there's always the classic!

Not going to bother with the maim areas with all the traffic and yobs you see at football matches

Can't believe it was nearly 18 months ago I started this thread, now mcelliott and I are only 5 days away from hitting French soil!! 
One question I do have is, which would be the better parking area to head to, from Hotel Arbor, for the pit walk on the Friday? We are ACO members so think we can park at Rouge (?) and also have a pass for parking vert. Have heard plenty of stories about super soakers not necessarily filled with water and would want to try and avoid these where possible!

A few years ago I booked the whole of the Arbor for my clients, and for viewing at the Michelin chicane it was superb!
For the race weekend the hotel is quite expensive which considering it's location is not a bad thing.
The food served is also very good.
Having been to Le Mans many times, I used the Arbor as a base and only drove to other parts of the circuit when it was quiet, as the surrounding roads into the main circuit entrances often become grid-locked, and as has been said previously it's a very, very long walk!
The Mulsanne corner is quite close, but you need some knowledge to make the trip simple.
Enjoy yourselves!

Don't worry too much about yobs unless driving about near the main campsites after dark - this is best avoided. You'll find a crowd on the Mulsanne straight during the day but it's good natured.
