Its at Saint Saturnin just north of Le Mans and well worth it. Its basically a show thast builds itself with anything worth looking at directed into the show car park. There is always a theme each year, food and drink and a weird jazz band playing. Its a great way to spend Friday before the parade if your bored of doing the pitwalk.
We have been going for many years now and it gets better and more popular each year, if you go on friday morning you can get there quite quickly but by the afternoon the traffic to get there is horrendous.
Not sure which is the featured mark this year but last year it was corvette and prior to that we have seen Morgan,Ferrari,Healey, Aston martin and jaguar.
Not much happens at the circuit on friday morning so best to go there and then come back for the pit lane walk in the afternoon.
The Classic british Welcome is part of the Le mans event now and many thanks to all those envolved in organising it

I don't want to steal Lowdrag's thunder but under another post Tony has stated that this year the featured marque at St. Saturnin will be the 'E' type celebrating 50 years since its launch. More details please Lowdrag when you are able to confirm!
As far as I am concerned it's become an unmissable event and the ideal curtain raiser to the 24hr race itself, regardless of the featured marque. But as a Jag owner myself this year will be even more special at St. Saturnin.

how special do you need to be to get in the car park? (i mean car not driver lol)

If you have a nice motor you will be escorted into the main arena car park, anything from mx5, mr2, older classics to your aston martin and ferrari, also anything quirky like a Volvo estate that had a roof chop, or any kit car.Andy
It does not have to be a mega expensive supercar, I got onto the main arena in an old Porsche 944 turbo, and my mate who has an old slightly scruffy mx5.

Get there early though, last year there were some quite nice cars being sent to the public car park past 11am (gutted they wouldn't let my tastefully stickered-up MGTF in!)Edited by The Angry Gopher on Monday 10th January 12:11

Now now! Let's be fair about this - we do try our best to accomodate many cars (I helped someone last year with a Mk 1 Escort who had been refused entry for example) but our helpers, who give their time freely, can't be expected to understand each and every British car that arrives. This year I would expect the pressure on parking inside to be quite heavy since the make of the year is..............
The E-type, for it's 50th anniversary.
I'll be there at 9am and when I arrive each year there are already some cars parked up. By 10.30 it's getting chockablock and then it get's to be dead mens shoes from about 11.30am onwards - one leaves, another enters. We do try and reserve the car parking for the make of the year and proper classics, and I'm afraid a MGTF, while it might qualify in 20 years, doesn't quite yet.
Anyway, looking forward to seeing you all there, and say hi if you see me. Usually I'm in the D-type and will be again since the E-type will be on display inside.

I will look out for your e type, will it be inside or outside and are there any special cars on display, by that I mean with le mans history
There are few E-types with Le Mans history, and I doubt we'll be able to get one of those. The problem is that each and every owner of a significant E-type has so many demands on their time next year that it is already impossible to secure the best cars, but we are doing our personal best. However, please accept that in such an iconic year we are somewhat down the food chain as far as events are concerned.I hope to have at least one special car there anyway, but it is yet to be confirmed.
My father always tells me the E-Type was a road going version of the D-Type that raced in the 24hrs. Will there be any mention of the accident in 1955? Not to lower the tone but more to give respect. There's always some fine stands, and info on the featured brand, car. Maybe they will play the documentary, in one of the halls
Nice shot of you Lowdrag, at last years meeting at the Queensland,

Not quite accurate, the road going D-Type (XKD) was the XKSS; after they'd finished with the racing programme they decided to make the remaining chassis into road cars. Sadly most were destroyed in a fire.XKE was just the next model and didn't really achieve much racing success. I am not really sure why as in lightweight spec they're very fast at Goodwood these days! No factory support maybe?
