I cant get no one to come Le Mans anymore. They think it will cost too much money for only 4 days!
How much will you lot spend for the trip? I'm trying to show them it wont be too much money, especially as petrol/diesel costs, food and beer etc etc will be halved.
So how much lighter do you usually come home?

Guerrilla style, self drive, self booked, public camping and sustenance overheads, you can probably pull it off for around 350-400 Earth pounds... get two in a car, travel costs are split and you get economy of scale with shop at the Super U or Carrefour. Bar your actual entry ticket all else can be cost shared pretty easily.
this year spending a bit more but last year:
3 of us, 1.8t car (35mpg)
race entry £180
campsite 70 (houx annex)
spending while in france 300
fuel 150 (did a bit of driving while down there)
ferry 30 (dover dunkirk norfolk line)
hotel on the way back 60
away wednesday 6.00am and back monday 11.00am
total 790 for 5 nights so only 260 each!!! Bonus!!!

Not excessive money, Halves on a pitch this year on TL which is £150 each for pitch, 60 euros enclosure tickets, petrol and ferries will be about £300, food an beer and spending money easily 200+ euros for 4 days......but it will be the Best 'lads' holiday you go on until LM2012 
p.s- I think those figures are pretty accurate, give or take a few hundred but it's so worth it !

The trick is to get as many people per vehicle as possible. If that means leaving the two seat weekend toys at home and taking the diesel rep mobiles then it's a sacrifice worth making.
The short ferry crossings from Dover are still pretty cheap. Norfolk Line are usually the cheapest for an extra 30 mins or so driving on the other side. Play around with the ferry times to get the cheapest crossings.
Camp at the circuit but outside the boundary at somewhere like Bleu Nord or Sud, close enough to the action but cheaper than the premium locations.
So, a rough estimate based on three in a car, you should be able to shave a bit off all of these as I've rounded everything up:
Ferry: £100
Camping Bleu: £70
Three race tickets: £200
Fuel there and back: £200
That comes to £190 per person
You need to add a few quid for tolls (which could be avoided if necessary) and then your food and drink. If you can get four in the car it's even better.

Disagree!!Although it is a cheaper alternative, half the fun for me is seeing (and hearing) all the "interesting" motors driving down and back.

I agree, but what I meant was if it meant the difference between going and not going, it's a sacrifice that has to be made. Inevitably, when we are there, whoever left the Porsche at home always wishes they'd brought it, but at least they are there.
Mate who came with me last year was under the kosh money-wise and I assured him if he behaved he should be able to do it in around £250 which I think he did. Roughly speaking (costs halved as two of us were in the car and represented here as such):
Eurotunnel - £60
Fuel - £70
Tolls - £30
Entry - £30
Food & Drink - £50
Camping - £20
Insuring me on the car - £15

3 blokes, RRS and Bailey caravan:
We take all our own food and beer/cider from here so whatever is on 3 for £20 at Tesco/Asda/Sainsburys
Make up 3 meals for the 'van freezer and fill the fridge with English breakfast ingredients
Between 3 of us including the fuel for the Rangey (which drinks like a Swede on a stag night 'cos it's petrol) is about £360ish each including ferry, grandstand and Houx camping. We spend very little in France. We even did a full roast on the Sunday after the race last year.
Mind you, it has taken years of practice to refine our trip to this extent!

Not cheap but worth the extra. Going to the classic next year and only go over other year. did 06,08,10 and again next year

Sod them..... head to the race anyway!
Was going to do that in '03. Had to get to the race for the first time and didn't care if anyone else was going to go.
The costs are worth it for once a year.
