By-pass Rouen ?
Discussion
We want to by-pass the Rouen industrial area once through the tunnel. Is there a better way through as we always seem to get caught in traffic there or is there another way before the tunnel without going miles out of our way ? We always come in on the A28 and would like to keep it that way as far as possible.
You have two choices - go through the city centre and pick up the dual carriageway (the N138 as was) which run to the west of the industrial area, or avoid Rouen entirely by adding about 6 miles to your route (along with an additional toll on the A29) by going to the west via Yvetot.
Route 1 - http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&source=s_d&a...
Route 2 - http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&source=s_d&a...
Hopefully the links work.

That's the way I go, very easy and empty roads

Sorry, couldn't remember who to credit for that route
But now I do

This route is a little off the wall but we take it each year, a free ferry crosses the Seine at Duclair where you can have a nice lunch with views of the Seine, once across the river (no waiting takes about five minutes) you are soon in the Seine national park.
The road runs along side the Seine with very picturesque scenery and finishes at Bourg Achard where you can pick up the A28 or the old N138 with us old gits.

Beginning to regret letting this slip, we'll get there this year, no tables left at the restaurants and a queue at the ferry, no problems with low vehicles (should have said you need a Land Rover).
Hang on - do you mean the restaurant which serves terrible food, warm beer and which you have to dodge machine gun nests and flame-throwers to get to ??! And which is patrolled by rabid dogs with a penchant for 'Rossbiffs' ?!
As for the ferry, if it's the one where the captain hands you a life jacket and directs you the nearest available oar, well, you can count me out...

Well don't say you weren't warned....Just don't be dangling your toes in the river as you cross - the piranhas will have them in an instant. Still, at least the sharks won't get you*
- there are no sharks in the river - well, not after the crocs ate them all....
