Thinking about Lemans

Never been, but have watched it on TV, and think maybe I should go next year as have not really had the time to sort it.But is it too late to go this year ie ferry booking etc. The tunnel has spaces, so can I still get camping, maybe seats or should I wait and book early for next year?
Cheers.....I guess I need to go on a few web sites, how far are the campsites from the track, I read you need to drive from some. No good for drinking.
Any one recommend a good group to go with.
I dont mind spending to have a good time, had to miss a ski trip cos of bad back this year, so I deserve it.

All the official campsites are walking distance to trackside, although Mulsanne and Arnage are a long way from the main "village"

some of the good campsites are right next to the track, if fact on some parts of our campsite, TR, you can pitch your tent against the wire and actually watch the cars from inside you tent and see a good chunk of the stretch from dunlop to tertre rouge corner, we prefer to have a 30 second walk as you do need a little stroll once in a while.
1st Tickets had some permits for Houx, Expo, Bleu Nord and Beausejou two weeks ago, give them a go. I think Brian from 1st Tickets is on this forum often if your having probs. Had a chat with a few old mates who went with team Langoustine a few years back, so may call them and a couple of others in the morning, a grandstand seems a good plan as they said it pissed down the year they went...great middle of summer as well.

There's at least three reasons for a grandstand seat: protection from the Sun, protection from the rain, and somewhere to park your self.....aside from somewhere for a good view. However, they do not come cheap and you may be too late to get one this year: they must be purchased in advance as they are not available on arrival.
The only Grandstand with both toilets and a bar, and showers too, is the ACO grandstand available only to members of the ACO or to those with seats there. All others are seating only. There's loads of bars and toilets (some of which are temporary) around the public areas of the circuit.
So which grandstand to go for? We all have our favourite and it's difficult to recommend one. Anything opposite the pits is OK, then there's others around the outside of the circuit in a number of places in the public areas. I think the grandstands over the pits are not so good as you cannot see any pits action unless you happen to be in the front row. Some people like a seat with a view of a large screen but there's not so many of those. Best advice, maybe, is get a good plan of the public areas, decide where you want to sit, and go for that...then pray you can find a seat as it's really too late to do so this year. You could get the Club Arnage guide as this gives +/- of all the places to get a seat.
