Corsa C 1.0 - Are they that bad?

Oh god yes!
First of all, a Corsa C is already a pile of scrap no matter what engine it has. However, the 1.0 3-pot is easily the worst of the bunch.
My Grandfather bought one a few months ago, and it has been nothing but trouble. It's slow, unrefined, sounds like a bag of spanners etc. When you leave them stood for more than half hour, the cylinder head will knocks its tits off until the oil pumps round to the head again, ad the chains rattle constantly. The worst thing though, is that they use MORE fuel than the faster, better to drive 1.2 4-pot.
Seriously, they are such a god awful car. Just typing this and thinking about it makes me want to smash it up out of frustration. Piece of hateful f

I had one as a hire car once. I did Edinburgh to Worthing and back in a weekend in it - I wanted to like it, thinking it would have some character being a three-pot but really it was awful. The Saxo 1.1 I had at the time had truly sparkling performance in comparison and was more economical too.

People are correct in telling you that the 1.0 corsa c is ste. However the 1.2 sxi is a perfectly good car for a new driver, modern enough pokey enough and handles well enough. To say that the fiesta is better in every way is a lie, to say that either are going to be fantastic is also a lie, But for a first car they are cheap (sub 1k) and reliable.

Insure
Tax
and if it is capable of breaking cheaper to repair.
Had one as my first car car at 18. Cost me £350 to buy, insurance £700 tpft and it renewed at £500. 2.5 years it never cost me 1p other than tax insurance and MOT.
Buy on condition and history and it will be cheap motoring until insurance dictates otherwise.
