Dog friendly sports cars ?

So, life taking a few changes recently and find myself needing a dog ( working cockers) friendly car.

Have a Range Rover for dull stuff but now need to get something where two adults and 2 cockers can go out and have fun.

Think budget up £100k ( value of 550) doesn't have to be new

Only thing I have come up with is a Ferrari FF but it's a bit out of budget at the moment

Any other suggestions ? Have drawn a blank !

As you say, the FF is the nearest thing to a modern Shooting Break (Brake?)

Otherwise, how about using a 2+2 coupe and sitting the dogs on the back seat, allows you to look at things like 911s.

Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8? It certainly isn't a sportscar, but it has monstrous performance and by all accounts is a fun drive.
(assuming that you want/need 4 wheel drive and a level of robustness).

Some of the recent JLR products (Discovery Sport, etc) are supposed to be a good steer as well.

Pretty much anything with a hatch, you can get a tailor made dog box for. The limiting factor is "sporty" driving with dogs in a car means discomfort or injury for pooch. Oh, dog vomit as well.

Porsche 997 and 996 targa have a hatchback so would be better for dogs than a normal coupe 911.

The Lotus Evora 400 would work well - plenty of room in the back for your two dogs and I think the bench type seat might suit them better than the individual seats of the FF/911.

Ok the Evora isn't in the same league as the FF, but it is most definitely a sports car and not a Chelsea Tractor!

Hi, Thanks for all the suggestions, quite like the lynx eventers but probably a bit old now ... cant cope with rust !!

The other one I have thought of is the Aston Rapide but I am not sure how big the boot is.

RE the throwing dogs about in the boot, I wont be driving like a loon with them in the car !

Depends what you think is a 'sports' car, but what about the German fast estates? They should come in under a 100 grand, and then you can get a little two seater superlight with the leftovers.

My pic would be the XFR-S Sportbrake. 542bhp of supercharged V8 goodness with change for a nice weekend/track car.



Failing that, there should be plenty within your budget to meet your needs. Panamera Turbo, Rapide, RS6/7, RRS SVR, VXR8 Tourer, C63 estate, E63 Estate, X5/6M, ML63, G63, Cayenne Turbo or GTS etc etc...

We cart our dogs about in the back of our SL Mercedes. Fold the rear seats down and it gives a nice flat load surface for the dogs to go on in their crates. Leave the seat backs up and they can be clipped into the seatbelts (stops them jumping out).

In my opinion all cars are dog friendly with enough forethought. You can get good harnesses and custom seats.

Here's my whippet in the kit car. She absolutely loves it. If she sees the car she hops straight in!
