e91 335i touring are they rare?

Hi,

I have decided i would like an estate car next. Nothing too big as i have no kids! Mainly to hide my golf clubs and to stick the dog in the boot. Plus i have an itch i need to scratch by getting an estate car.

Wanting something fast and rear wheel drive, a BMW seemed the way to go. The touring has always caught my eye and after a little research i have my heart set on the 335i touring.

I have searched through several websites to see whats for sale and can only find a few cars. Are they that rare? Or is it just that there are only a few for sale at this time.

Searching through threads on here is similar only a few threads on them. Im assuming i can find all i need to know by searching for the 335i coupe as to issues and what to look for when looking at a car for sale.

Yes, they are rare, thanks to most 3-series buyers/users taking the diesel option. Good luck with your search, and keep an eye out for that HP fuel pump issue.

They are quite rare cars, even more so with a manual gearbox.. manual or DCT would be the only options I'd consider, the Steptronic auto is absolutely abysmal and ruins what should be a decent performer.

I was in EXACTLY the same position as you (Golf Clubs, Dogs, Interest in Fast Estates) a wee while ago and regretted it massively. I don't know your budget/spec requirements but, in the unlikely event that my old car was for sale, stay away from 335i Touring reg: YK11VYH... on paper it'll sound fantastic (has some costly Birds Garage upgrades fitted), but the car is a complete raft and I promise you it'll be more hassle than it's worth.

My old man recently traded his 335i against a new Alpina B3 - both Tourings. Excellent cars though I'm not sure I'd do 18" wheels with sports suspension and run-flats. His 335i went to Sytner in Nottingham - might be worth a call?

Definitely remember someone in the UK section of E90post having a DCT 335i.. and being insanely jealous of them.

DCT was available on 335i coupe and cabriolet in the UK - I test drove one at the time of launch. Saloon and Touring remained with the regular auto however.

OP - I looked for a 335i manual for ages, never found one so ended up buying new instead, although downsized to an M135i. To that end have you considered a new 340i and you can then choose the gearbox of your preference? I hear 20% discounts are typical.

Can't help with the 335i but after several BMW tourings I've gone over to an Audi B8 S4 and would recommend it. If budget allows

what kind of age are you looking at? I'm seriously considering selling my manual 07 plate e91 335i, apparently only 9 pre lci 6MT 335s were imported.

Not an E91, but I saw a manual F31 335i In Leamington Spa on Saturday.

These must be hen's teeth as well.

That is a rare old beast, given that a manual 'box is not a factory option on the touring! Was it a saloon, as you can spec a manual F30 335i/340i.

If it really was an F31 335i, it's in my home town, and I want to upgrade to it from my E91 LCI 335i manual!

It was a touring for sure. Pretty sure it was Estoril Blue.

I was looking in to this lately and they are indeed rare. Something along the lines of 59 pre lci manual tourings and just 12 post LCI manual tourings.

Good luck with that. I looked for similar for a while and if you can even find one prices are crazy and you have to take what you're given. A 330 would have done for me if a 335 wasn't available.

Pretty much came to the conclusion that I would have to keep my E46 330 touring manual and spend some money on it. Shame as I'd like a newer daily without rust, but spending a 5 figure sum on a car that's only 5 years newer and not that different is a bitter pill for me to swallow...

I can wait. I suspect I may end up with a saloon, but would prefer a touring.

335I manuals in general seem really hard to come by, esp in manual.. currently looking for an e92, seems like 2 months ago there was an abundance of them now all of a sudden they’re gone!
