I want a good raw feeling from driving the car. A car with a soul. I like the idea of the 80s hot hatchbacks like the peugeot 205 gti and more modern things like a mazda mx5 (2000 -2007 sort of model). Im a relatively young driver so the insurance cant be too ridiculous, but my budget is £4k.

Thanks

no idea re insurance but take a clio 172/182 out for a spin , superb handling , quick enough for day to day use and thrashing around b roads and other than the cost of cambelts and clutch's there pretty reliable .

Sounds like you might like a Suzuki Swift Sport, worth a look.

I found a Suzuki Ignis Sport for my bro's first car, he's still learning and absolutely loves it. The Swift Sport as previously mentioned is probably a good bet too as they are more popular so easier to find a good one, not as 'raw' though.
