So after 11 years of abuse, the Corsa has finally died. Bought new in 2005 by me then handed over to SWMBO 2 years ago, a leaking rocker cover gasket has led to a broken rocker and a hole in the head and is now uneconomical to repair.

I now need suggestions for a replacement for the wife, something about 2 years old approved used, similar size 3 door, all the gadgets, comfortable on the motorway, all budgets considered. Has to look good/be pretty (woman thing), easy for her mum to get into the front passenger seat.

So far I think we will go look at Corsa/Fiesta/Mito. What else is there that I should be thinking of?

My GF has one of the current shape MINI One's. Feels a lot more premium inside and nice and comfortable for any journey, good amount of standard kit. I'd definitely recommend one.

What a terrible man. Replacing a woman with a newer model after 11 years. Cruel.

Polo GTi, the perfect wifey car IMO

Practical, economical, pokey with out being overly fast, and quite effeminate

mine loves her's

I'm sure like me, many on here would consider a 2005 car still relitvely new.

For such a recent car 11 years really isn't long at all for the 'life' of a car.

I'm actually quite shocked at that.

Some good suggestions here. Also maybe thinking of a Adam 1.4 Turbo S. That could be good fun smile

Would a Vauxhall Adam be a better match than the current Corsa? I don't know anything about it apart from it looks nice.

We have a 1 litre 3 cylinder VW Up! and it is a very good car. There are Skoda and Seat versions which are basically the same.

Smaller, so better for her parking, and has 150BHP biggrin

Might also see about a VXR Corsa, Fiesta ST etc.

Went with the Adam S in the end. Great little car with lots of go and good handling. Pick it up next Saturday.

Isn't that a little patronising?

There's absolutely no way you'd get my wife in a 'nice little wifey car' like a Polo. Or any other supermini.

Upon further investigation some bolts had come loose on the rockers leading to rattling. Very odd. Ah well, cool new car for the wife biggrin

Broken rocker, hole in head. Uneconomical to repair. Probably just going to scrap it unless someone offers me something to take it off my hands to break it.
