My wife's company car goes back soon, and after driving our lads Audi A3 with DSG she's quite keen on looking at DSG in her next car.

Not very PH but we're looking at Golf 1.9 TDI's around 2005-2008 as it'll meet her needs perfectly.

The Audi she's tried is a similar age so I assume the same 'box?

How do these fare reliability wise once they get to this age? It's clearly a nice bit of kit but I imagine it's expensive to replace if it goes pop.

Would it be fair to assume that if it works as it should, if or when we buy one, that perhaps we should get the fluid changed as a precaution and it should continue working well, or do they tend to have a limited life?

I don't really have experience with these so any advice much appreciated.

If the DSG unit hasn't been replaced then it likely will need it at some point. Will cost over a grand iirc.
