I like the look of these, but i have a few questions for owners. Looking on the internet seems to be conflicting answere and the ZSOC just looks like big exhausts and boy racers which i aren't interested in.

What real world mpg do they do? I have read from 50-88mpg! Which model/ year is the best one to go for!

Read £20 tax so cheap

Reveiws seem positive that they are "fun" to drive, atleast for a diesel.

I am looking to spend around £6k on one but might have some budget creep.

Thanks

I used to have a 2008 mk6.5 Zs tdci (the last of the 02-08 shape) and that could comfortably do 60+ on a run and low-mid 50s without really trying.

Mine was pretty reliable however injectors can start not having a proper spray pattern which in turn allows the Glow plugs to burn out which then leads to cold starts being lumpy and smokey. Mine has the injector fixed under warranty but not the plugs I just lived with the smoke and lumpiness it still ran okay overall, once warm it was fine.

Injector seals are common failure points and turbos have been known to go occasionally.

The mk6 and pre dpf mk7 engines are essentially the same. From I think 2010 or 2011 onwards they have 95bhp and a dpf.

I would recommend one but it must have full service history as otherwise they can start to get sludged up

I would personally go for a pre dpf model (with 90bhp and 30 quid tax) as there is less to go wrong

My wife had a 2011 95hp DPF model for approx 18 months and during that time racked up nearly 52,000 miles. Apart from servicing it myself every 10k with correct low ash oil, 1 set of front brakes and a few tyre replacements, the only items that required replacement due to any sort of fault was a couple of alloys as they are seemingly made out of cheese and buckle at the sight of a pothole. During this time I'd say it got approx 53mpg on average. It was a fantastic little car but only got rid of it as her indoors wanted an Automatic for the commute instead of a manual!

Thanks both

Another daft question, how big is the fuel tank? Will i get 500 miles from one tank? Only want to fill up once a week ideally

I ran a 2008 Sportvan 1.6tdci to over 100k from new. I then owned a 2012 mark 7 for 9 month before it was written off. The gearing on van was a bit low 26.5mph/1000 revs in 5th. Sitting at 60mph on A roads would see a little over 60 however at 70 or higher the economy fell away quickly. The 2012 car was a little more economical at 70mph with the gearing at 28 mph and would see 55/57mpg at 70mph.

I now have a 1.0 ecoboost 125bhp and at 70mph delivers 52mpg and is a sweet little thing.

You have a gift for understatement!
