Selling a old IOM registered Imprezza Sabrau in the Uk?

My boyfriend got a old Subaru Imprezza that was registered in Isle of Man, but he been living in York for past year and he hasn't yet got anything changed over, so still on the IOM plates etc. Without having to take the car back to IOM, how can he sell this car as he no longer uses it, it needs a MOT etc as it is just sat in is drive???

Take it for a mot, locally to you, not sure if you can then keep them the Manx plate on it, I had to apply to dvla for a uk plate when I bought a car over from iom, but that was about 15 years ago.
