Very specific requirements
Discussion
Hi all, another whatcar thread but one with quite specific requirements, i really want a new fiesta st but ideally my budget is 10,000 at the very most so wont get one that fits my requirements.
So i would like:
30mpg plus even giving it a good bit of stick.
Manual (with a stick, no flappy s
t)
Fun to drive/good handling.
Nice sounding engine with a linear power delivery.
Quick (ideally less than 8 seconds to 60 as a benchmark)
No convertibles.
Petrol
Relatively new (up to 4-5 years old)
Reliable
Apart from the swift sport (think it might be a bit slow and tiring to rev all the time?
Or a abarth 500 (but the handling is slated and is it reliable
I dont have any other ideas

I can't say I've read anything slating the handling. Parkers lists the sharp handling as a pro: http://www.parkers.co.uk/abarth/500/
Evo said "Abarth turned out to have a much better ride than the regular car as well as tidier, keener handling, despite retaining an oddly ‘digital’ feel to the electric power steering." that's about the worst comment I can find on handling.
The main criticism is ride height and the steering wheel only being height adjustable but neither affect me.
I'd be looking at finding a good deal on a new swift sport or getting a nearly new one.

Audi a3 1.8 TFSI, or even a 2.0 TFSI.
Mines a 09 model, 160bhp , lots of torque, 30mpg real world, and claimed 0 to 60 in 7.6 seconds.
A cheeky remap will take you up to 220bhp, but your mpg will drop accordingly.
With all due respect, i know this is quite punchy, but is a standard a3 really a hot hatch??Mines a 09 model, 160bhp , lots of torque, 30mpg real world, and claimed 0 to 60 in 7.6 seconds.
