I'm curious. If I gave you £10k to spend on a car - the only proviso being that it has to be something you consider fun - what would it be?

It's not a huge budget, but that could be anything from a Series 1 Land Rover through to a bike-powered Westfield, via any number of hot hatches, sports saloons, modern classics and affordable sports cars.

BMW E30 325i Sport, if I could find a good one for £10k.
Failing that, a BMW Z4 coupé.

Hmmm well having the TVR in the garage I suspect I would go for an Elise..

ETA Actually I take that back, an M3 Cabrio so the car seat can go in....

I like my car, so it stays. A VFR800, would be a welcome addition. It would break my heart to get rid of my trusty CBR600, but the traded in would give some usefull touring options and some change.

Really? £10k for one? A friend bought one for £700 back in the day (thats how little they were worth) and it was never anything special even when fully functional.

To fit in with the current fleet, something like a VX220 or an XJR, depending on which way I fancy going.

Subjective, I know, but I thought it was a lovely car. The proper 325i Sport never went as low as £700. £5k perhaps. This is what people are asking for them now ...

More miles would get one for £10k but at the lower end it's a case of finding one that hasn't been interfered with.

Hmm..... something with a V8 to satisfy that itch but preferably old-school British.

Jaguar S-Type R
Jaguar XK8
MG ZT V8
TVR Chimaera

Would still have change left over to run them for a couple of years afterwards.

To be honest if it was to be my only form of transport then I'd buy this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-S-1000-RR-/232145423...

Or if it has to be a car then it would be this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2003-Mercedes-CLK55-55-A...

& spend the money saved on mods to make it a trackday toy or if it has to be spent solely on the car then it would have to go on a Megane RS250:

If I wasn't considering what I have already, I would go for a Chim.

If it was something other than that I may be tempted by an FD RX-7
