Any reason not to buy an f10 BMW 535d m sport
Discussion
Hi guys,
I just signed up and was wondering if I could get some advice on the f10 535d m sport.
Would there be any major reason to stay away from the car or what would be the things to look out for when seeing the car?
I'll be keeping the car for as long as it runs and I'd be doing 90k miles per year mainly motorway miles.
So I know it'll last only 2 years or 3 max
Shpuld I take an extended warranty or leave it?
Regards

You're driving, on average, nearly 350 miles every single working day?
That's some going....

Many warranties are likely to exclude private hire.I just signed up and was wondering if I could get some advice on the f10 535d m sport.

M-sport? Consider passenger comfort first? They won't appreciate the harder ride.
if you want to avoid a 2.0d I would go for a 530d estate in SE spec - less to go wrong vs the 535d (you won't notice the power difference on the motorway...), estate will give you the edge in carrying suitcases etc and SE for 2 reasons:
ride comfort
cost of consumables (tyres...) at your mileage you'll be getting through 4-8 tyres a year, the difference between 19's and 17's/18's may only be £50 but that's £200-400....a year!

I'll get the windows tinted so you won't be able to tell it's a pco car plus I use it privately aswell and don't want an estate for a number of reasons ride comfort

7 series is too long and looks like an old man's car.
The only car I'd get is the 535d m sport or the equivalent E class 350.
I was also looking at the audi a6 3.0 but was put off due to the triptonic gearbox reliability.

well the 3.0 twin turbo is known to need turbo replacement of both prob within 1 year of your ownership - but you will have one v fast and uneconomical vehicle

From what I've read on forums the 535d is the best model to go for.

Plus I've realised the more you drive a car the less problematic it is.
My dad had an avensis that ran upto 320,000 miles relatively trouble free and no routine of service.
Any problems with the 7 series then?
Or the E350??
Thanks

Never been able to work out why people who are PH have to ask what car to buy. You should have preconceived preconceptions from thousands of wasted hours looking at car info rather than caring for the family for God's sake man ! Be off with you to the happy land of WhichCar?

The OP's not PH, he's joined just to ask this question.
However, he has received some very good advice which he's totally ignoring because what he wants is answers that confirm the decision he's already made. Looks like he'll fit right in.

The C7 A6 3.0 uses 3 different gearboxes. Early FWD models (with the 204bhp engine) use the Multitronic CVT box - best avoided.
The single-turbo 245bhp and 272bhp quattro variants use the 7-speed S-tronic (DSG) box. This longitudinally-installed variant seems to be a reliable unit.
The 313bhp and 320bhp BiTDI models use the excellent 8-speed ZF torque converter auto (badged as Tiptronic) the same as BMW and Jaguar. There is no reason whatsoever to avoid this box - it's a peach.

Get the boring se version or get the 7 series?
I had the previous gen e61 535d msport. Ran it up to 130k with regular servicing. Only problem I had was turbo vacuum pipes perishing, replaced by a specialist for £200 or so. Towed my race car with it, didn't have an easy life, but was never late for scrutineering
. Replaced it 2 years ago with a 2013 F10 535d msport. Ride is much softer than previously, mines on 19" wheels. Currently on 55k miles with no problems. Get easy 45mpg on motorway at a steady 70, 600I miles out of a tank. Mine has comfort seats, people rave about them but I don't find them any more comfortable than the standard sports seats. Pro Nav with the big screen is worth having, mine plays dvds which is nice when waiting in the car. Bang & Olufsen hi if is great but rare. It's a brilliant compromise of performance and comfortable motorway cruiser.with good economy, regularly do 300 miles a day with no problems. Hold there value pretty well, sold my 2007 e61 in 2015 for nearly £7k to webuyanycar, it was mechanically great, cosmetically tatty.

Thanks for the advice.
That's what I was hoping to hear.
