Daily demands of the school run are forcing me to rethink family barge strategy.. its an awesome thing but with insurance pushing almost a grand, mpg running into mid teens and my obsession with only filling up with shell nitro and higher band road tax, my better half is question my decision to retain it in the fleet...

having a think about what may be suitable alternatives and so far its a short list

- subaru legacy 2.5 se
- volvo v70r awd

IF i change it, the incoming thing must be petrol, auto, 4wd and be less than 12k as well as being an estate rather than a suv, 4x4 etc

A6 3.0 TFSI avant? Same engine as S4, easy to get up to 400bhp+ with a pulley and map, and only 295 road tax

The S6 is the only car in recent years I regretted moving on. So I'd keep it, or if it's a decent one send a PM through.

The alternatives don't sound like they would save that much on running costs? If yours is a good one, better the devil you know...

i think thats the nub of it.. the marginal savings are probably quite low but the degradation of experience even lower! man maths says keep it!
