Looking for my next toy and my head is spinning.

My budget is 20-35K (can stretch to 35 for the right car)

It's an eclectic list.

Corvette C6 (or ZO6)
2008-10 SL63 6.2 AMG
Lotus Evora S (only just in Budget)
Cayman S 987

Cayman is bottom of the list for me, on paper it's great, but I don't like the Porsche image and they are very ubiquitous.

Evora S - great car? But at the top of my budget, may struggle to get a nice one, also cramped?

SL63 - I love the M156 V8, and think it would be a do it all car, but cripes, 19780 KG! and has the most bork potential.. Have read it's more of a sports car than the SL55.

Corvette is at the top of the list, ideally a 2008 on LS3 car, but LS2 cars seem great value.

Not sure what on earth to do, any others to add in to the mix?

Also, I want the car for fun, but where do people this is best to put my money in?

The problem is somewhat caused by my 2001 3200 Asetto Corsa Maserati, gorgeous and stunning value for money, it needs to be something special if I AM going to replace it.

Evora (though for fun I'd go for an Elise or an Exige).

You have a M135, so the luxury of the Merc and Cayman aren't giving you much you haven't already got.

I'm not a fan of Corvettes, but it certainly is markedly different from the M135.

That does make a lot of sense... But the SL63 would offer top down burbling about over and above the BMW.

I have the classic angle covered with my 1966 Giulia too for variety.

The corvette does have the bonus of the removable hardtop - seems like a useful half way house.

I've never owned an open top car of any kind so far!

This LS2 looks pretty mean!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Chevrolet-Corvette-C6-LS...

But for a little more I might be able to get an LS3 car...

And this Z06 maybe for those where "enough is never enough" !

Corvette Z06 every time. I am biased as I've owned one for 12 months. It brings a smile to my face every time it starts and then laughter every time I drive it!! But remember, the roof is not removable on the Z06. It is permanently bonded in place.

What about a classic convertible with a V8.

Pontiac Firebird

What about an early V8 Audi R8 or v8 vantage, has the special element and seem like their prices have stabilised. My more weekend focussed options would be a Lotus 340R, Noble or Lotus... As a fellow M-lite owner they seem like a good options (and different to what you already have got).

Good idea, but it looks like £40K plus for an early R8, and I don't really like the image and the V8 doesn't pack that much punch. I've driven a B7 RS4 and thought the engine in that was a bit flat tbh, probably carboned up, but it was quite new. If it was the V10 then yes difinately, but then thats £70K+

Similar problem with the vantage, I think you can get them for £35K, but that means a 4.3 and I would want a 4.7....

Noble is a good shout, used to fancy owning one, although it is a bit kit car. No doubting the performance though!

Looks lovely, That's a nice tangent to go off on, but I have two other classics and sort of want something more modern classic.

The only other option suggested by a quick PH search that could be of interest is a Jag XKR convertible.

Earlier SL55? Doubt the prices will drop much lower and an utterly glorious S/C V8.

CL63 - Not sure if there is a Cabriolet version.

M6 Cab? (I wouldn't)

I would pick the Corvette or Vantage (bias)!

Vantage Roadster 08 on has the interior update.

I have a 4.3 Vantage and could have just about got a 4.7, but bought on condition (AM main dealer / FAMsH) and in the real world you can hardly tell the difference.

I like the idea of the Sl63 being a bit more sports car than SL55, and I'm under the impression that Merc Build quality was pretty poor during some of the Sl55 period, might be wrong, but I've seen a lot of rusty E classes!

Doesn't have to be a convertible, infact I'm against a lot of the as they seem a bit posing over substance.

Aston wise I think I would prefer a DB9 for some reason, just looked and there are a couple of manual ones, for 39/40k mind.

Got to have a look at a couple of 'Vettes it would seem!!

Both of my cars are soft top. For me the whole driving experience is enhanced when you're driving at pace with the roof down, especially if your car makes a good noise. I understand where you're coming from with the poser comment, but seriously, take a convertible for a blast (not a cruise) with the roof down, it's epic.
