Another what car thread! 8k, reliable, good mpg, fun 2 drive
Discussion
Hi All,
Another what car thread sorry!
Currently have a 2010 Mercedes Clc 1.8 which annoyingly I only get 27 mpg out of (on a good day).
My commute to work is 10 miles there and back with a mixture of dual carriage way b roads and queing in traffic.
My car is probably worth about 8k so don't want to spend much more than this.
I'm looking for a reliable car that won't lose much money in deprecation, with a good mpg for short journeys such as my commute, don't mind if it's diesel or petrol.
Please help!

Doing low miles I'd say petrol is a better option:

"won't depreciate too much' ... two Renault clio's... both will be worth £3k in 5 years time. would make the fuel saving pointless and you would have to drive a crappy eurobox (Small petrol's are crap on fuel at motorway speeds anyway).
I would be unsure on petrol vs diesel. Many will say a diesel will only just be warmed up in 10 miles, but modern diesels are better. Based on your appreciation of something Germanic I would go for something that's done a decent amount of depreciation but still desirable...

They still look great, have all the creature comforts, great fun to drive when the mood strikes and you won't get bullied out of the fast lane.
