I am fortunate that I have a number of reasonable cars but I think it is time for a change. My current cars, listed in order by which I use the most, are

Porsche Macan 3.0D
McLaren 12C Spider
Renault Koleos
Porsche 964RS NGT
Jensen Interceptor

I love the Macan and this is my daily, however with all the talk of Diesel Scrappage I intend to get rid of it but buy similar with a petrol engine. (Owned for 6 months covered 4000 miles)

The McLaren is great but before too long I will lose my licence (or more). A quick burst of acceleration can see you in ridiculous territory. This car with warranty, insurance and annual service (a service where nothing needs doing) costs me £500pm before I even drive it. (Owned for 20 months covered 7500 miles)

The Koleos is the skip car and one which anyone can borrow if needed. It isn't worth much and costs peanuts to run and insure.(Owned forever covered 40000 miles)

The 964RS NGT is very special and a car I don't really want to get rid of and it doesn't cost much to keep and maintain.(Owned 3 and a bit years covered 2000 miles)

The Interceptor is fine when I feel flush enough to burn a gallon of fuel every 8 miles or so but not the most reliable thing (owned 2 years done less than 1000 miles)

My thought process at the moment is to get rid of the Macan D and buy a Macan GTS. Sell the McLaren and buy either a 997 GT3 or a GT4. Keep the Koleos. Keep the 964RS and wrap it up in cotton wool for a few years. Sell the Interceptor.

Any thoughts anyone?

Swapping the Macan DERV out for a petrol might be jumping the gun a bit, but if you want to move away from diesel, I've heard worse ideas. Getting a GTS also means you'll have a superfast daily (makes a mental note).

Getting shot of the McLaren seems to make sense, as it's a bit much for road use. As you say, it's a bit of a licence-loser. Plus, with a Macan GTS on the driveway (see above), your need for speed should be well catered for.

Your other Porker (the 964) seems to me that it's your "special" fast car, and could potentially take the place of the McLaren in your affections for those occasions when only a track/race-focused car will do.

The Koleos (meh). Run it into the ground.

The Jensen sounds like another car that's special to you. Your "high days and holidays" car, maybe?

So, in summary, don't replace the McLaren with anything... Swap the Macan 3.0 D for a petrol GTS, and enjoy the rest of the fleet in their slightly revised pecking order.

I'm sure a 997 GT3 is an easy "licence loser" too,so bit pointless replacing the Mc for one....confused

I agree, any reasonable modern sports car can be driven in such a way to be a 'licence loser'

Not a bad collection. I'd sell the Mclaren.

And get an MX5.

Macan GTS
Keep the 964 and Renault thing

Sell the McLaren and Jensen and buy;
Classic Alfa Junior GT - light / fun / relatively cheap (covers the classic / fun aspect)
911 GT3; N/a & Manual and shouldn't lose you that much money
