This appeared in my inbox as they've apparently gained another £1m in funding - hellocar.

Interesting T&Cs:

"Once the 7-day money back guarantee has expired Hellocar holds no responsibility for any issues, mechanical or otherwise, that may arise with the Vehicle."

Am I wrong in thinking 'good luck with that'?

If I'm reading it right they're also offering 7 days free car hire....

Yea, but like Las Vegas, if you do it once, and make them look mugs, you ain't going to do it again.

I can't see them offering sheds or anything remotely interesting. IT will be all 3-7 year old Fords, Vauxhalls and low end German stuff. Sold to people who couldn't care less, which is fine but not the way I want to be buying.
Nor would I go there. I don't mind going to a dealer to talk about the car I am interested in, and have a free coffee and so forth. Not to mention a 7 day guarantee doesn't inspire confidence.

How do they bypass their responsibilities as traders?

What is 'full service history'.

That'll appeal to people who don't dot the i's and cross their t's..

Just had a peek at their website. It tells you something about their target customer that the only options you can filter the list of cars for sale by are:
  • Brand
  • Price
  • Mileage
  • Colour
No ability to filter by,say, gearbox, fuel type, body shape, bhp / litre etc...

the free 7 day renting seems like a good offer. I wonder how it would work in reality...

I see a Mustang has been reserved. By selling cars that still have manufacturer's warranty they reckon they can wash their hands of any issues the car may suffer. Would be interesting to see what would happen if a fault develops that the manufacturer won't cover.

Martha Lane Fox's brother is involved with this.
