Just sold my Mk1 Eunos today frown

Looking for a cheap to run replacement for less than £1200.

Requirements are:

More than 2 seats!
30mpg+ around town
Something that's been looked after and will be (hopefully) reliable
Within 30 miles of Nottingham NG9 ideally

I've been trawling through auto trader, gumtree and eBay, but can't find anything decent.

Would love some inspiration and suggestions if possible, or even links to potential cars!

Unless you have loads of time to find something really good I'd suggest 30 miles distance is not far enough.

There are a few cars to look out for at this low budget which do have a following / loyalty and you could find a really good well looked after 1 or 2 owner example - Nissan Primera, Vauxhall Omega and Honda Accord - owners tend to hang onto good examples for many years so look out for one with 1 or 2 owners, worth very little bit drive well.

a well cared car for 1.2k could be a oxymoron.

at this end of the market they are as rare as unicorns. best bet are old timers cars or people trading up to a new car.

forget ebay or gumtree, look on owners forums.

i am in the same position , albeit with a smaller budget smile with £1k to spend , it is quite heart breaking . i have looked in all the usual places , but anything decent gets snapped up quite quickly.
good luck and post up your purchase on here . i will do the same.

Thanks for the comments guys. In the end I decided that if I can't find something that's been well cared for - I'll go for something cheap and with a good reputation for reliability. After hunting around I found a tatty Nissan Micra round the corner from my work. Went to have a look at lunch time and had bought it before tea time!

It's clearly had a tough life, even though it's only done 82,000 miles. It's got lots of scratches and dings, but I feel that adds to the character a little bit... In all honesty, it's a god awful looking car - and I still have absolutely no idea why I bought it. It's hilarious to drive coming from the MX5, but I can see myself getting quite attached to the blue monster with time smile

Plan is to tidy it up a bit, and use it as long as it isn't costing me too much money. Fingers crossed!

I'm going to start a readers rides thread so I can get some advice on servicing and things to do before I start using it a lot. I have 0 mechanical knowledge and a very small amount of tools, so will be after some advice on the best place to start in getting it back up to scratch.

Quick few photos below, it will be getting a good clean this weekend! Hopefully I can get rid of the smoke smell...
