Very simple, I'm going to be driving around Europe and awful lot this summer/ South of France/ Amalfi Coast etc and need something to do it in.

Two seats is fine, but with enough space to get a couple of suitcases in and something that isn't ludicrous on fuel due to the amount of mileage I will be doing. I'm also nearing 20, so no V8's just yet as insurance is worth thinking about.

Would appreciate any thoughts- I've thought about an Mx5 but I'm not sure I'll fit in it- I'm 6'5

Other than that I'm a little short on ideas- a convertible would also be a plus too but I'm aware that I won't fit in most things.

Thanks in advance chaps.

Has anyone mentioned the MX-5? biggrin

On a serious note, what about a BMW Z4? Or if you're after something with Latin flair, a 916 Alfa Spider (though that may also have headroom issues).

Had a look at the Z4, with my budget I'm looking at the dodgy end of the spectrum with high mileage and dodgy service history!

Shame really, they're nice cars.

E46 330ci?

Comfortable cruiser
Decent enough poke
Bullet proof engines
Look good with the roof down
Insurance is reasonable for your age
Good size boot/back seat for luggage

I'd try an MX5 for size. I'm 6ft and it was fine for me. You "might" get away with one.

You'd get a newer, lower miles MX5 than say a similarly priced Z4.

OR - something like a Clio 182? A 197 is within budget too
