So, quick summary:

- have Saab 9-3 that's starting to fall apart at the seams and could best be described as 'scabby'. And that would be being polite.
- have a GTR as a weekend toy, which satisfies 'go fast' urges. This is staying as it's taken me years to save up for it.
- wife also has 1.2 TSI Ibiza which is frugal for longer journeys.
- car will be expected to take me to work each day, occasionally taking me, wife and 3yo out in reasonable comfort.

To replace the scab I've been shopping around Shed money, and it's not good viewing. Not sure if this linked to time of year.

We're also considering launching a new business venture in the next 12 months which will require a tow vehicle for a small vintage horsebox (I know nothing about the legalities of towing so need to get up to speed on this if anyone has a useful guide etc...)

So, I've been throwing round a few options and thought I'd canvas PH's opinion.

- replace Saab (which I could probably sell for £500) with a suitable sized tow vehicle, I was thinking something like a Forester. I'd want a turbo and not sure how robust the <£2k cars are. Alternatively something bargy (open to suggestions). It would need to be reasonably bomb proof as we'll need to rely on it for business.

- get something a bit sporty around Shed money for me to bomb to work and back in. Something like a 172 or rx8, then when we pick up a trailer look for a small van (I.e. Transit connect) to do the towing.

- walk into a dealer and PCP (or business lease) something like an Octavia / Leon estate and get a tow bar fitted.

I like shedding (and the associated not having to worry about parking dings etc...) But I'd be worry about something borking and not being able to earn revenue.

Alternatively leasing something new will get me the best car, but puts an expense on the business on day one and is a long term commitment.

Sorry this is a bit rambling. But I'm genuinely not sure which direction to go in. Both have pros and cons and I'm aware there may be vehicles I haven't even considered.

So, over to PH!
