All brand new on a lease and I will whack a tuning box on whatever I lease

Cooper s chilli pack 7th edition 192bhp / sounds great stock

2017 Octavia vrs dsg 227bhp / dsg farts from exhaust but would be The fastest when remapped plus the split headlights aren't the nicest

Bmw 120d m sport auto (3 door) 190bhp

Ford focus St (diesel version 180ish bhp) / looks the part but not the quickest

Golf gtd dsg 180ish bhp / looks good but not seen the full 2017 version in person

I'm not fussed about fuel consumption, the mini is the cheapest to lease with the most toys added Harmon kardon and leather seats etc

I've not driven any of the above, mainly looking for the best driving experience. Came from a sports bike but I can no longer ride due to back injury

Mini and the Skoda can both be taken down to 0/62 in 6 seconds or there abouts, the 120d probably down to 6.2

The ford and golf maybe a bit slow

Bmw is the most expensive, adding the HK audio and nicer wheels it'll cost me an extra £1500 which is a holiday

I'll be doing no more than 5k a year so I could make that £1500 back over two years

I've not had a petrol car in four years and that was an e46 330ci, ive been stuck with my slow c4 grand Picasso and miss the high reviving excitement and noise from a good petrol car.

I'm really stuck, the cars above are all I can come up with that might excite me once I've stuck a tuningbox on I think the new vrs maps to 300bhp and 500nm so it'll be quick and so would the mini

Will the lease company allow you to modify the car? I wouldn't think so.

If you are after a nice petrol engine, those are all 4 pot garbage or diesel.

For 5k a year, I would take your lease budget and have a look in classifieds at a nice 6 Series Coupe / Convertible, Z4, oxter if you only need two seats.

The lease company don't allow it but they'd never know, it'd be removed before service

5k as in 5000 miles a year sorry, I have looked at the classifieds but I'd have mot bills and servicing bills

I can get a good deal on a business lease so it's not gonna kill me financially

Unfortunately those cars are all I can come up with that are within my budget

I would go for the Mini, personally. In Cooper S form it should be good fun to drive and the interiors are always a nice place to be, particularly in the higher spec models.

Still, I don't think the choices you've got there are too bad at all...

That is a knobbish attitude to take. If the car is yours, do what you like with it as long as it is declared to the insurance company and is legal, but the car will be leased and you are not in a position to modify it. If you want a faster car, then pay a bit more per month for a fast version.

Bad back + Mini = lots of visits to Physio/Doctors/etc;

But that’s ‘usually’ because the ride quality can be firm to the point of being jarring, especially at lower speeds or on bad roads.

P.S. for 5k a year, forget a diesel, unless you love DPF issues.

(that is unless you're one those people who take out a 5k lease, then drives 20k/year and provides a 'mileage correction' before the car is returned)

Well it's a good job I don't care what you think!

Just like 90% of people don't declare there mods to insurance company's

I'm not stupid, the engine in the mini is the same as the 320i and it has the same turbo as the mini JCW and can handle the 50bhp increase with zero negative effects, but that's my business.

I can buy a faster car, but I've just bought a brand new kuga titaniam x that's probably being built by now so I'm going to lease something that's just for me.

I'd have taken the mx5 if I fitted in it but im too tall 6ft3 and 17st so a very tight fit

I'll probably get the mini cooper s 7 edition with the chilli pack, going in to see them tomorrow to discuss my options

What about the drive train behind it? Does it have the same cooling package or even enough to handle the extra heat?

If something fails that's related to you modifying it you will no doubt expect them to pay up when the failure is your fault, this is a parasitic attitude. In my line of work, lots of people have had machines mapped that were still under warranty and when the machines failed, which they did a lot, they expected the manufacturers to pay up. Unfortunately they are wise to it now and the very first thing they will do is plug a laptop into the machine to check up on the fueling. It is now difficult to get so much as a blower motor under warranty now as a result of these parasites.

My parents were offered a 140hp remap for one of their Fabias when they bought it new from the supplying dealer. In this instance, go for it, but don't bugger about with someone else's car.

Are you aware that a lot of modern ECUs have features/counters which keep track of how many times it has been reprogrammed? VAG cars being tuned will often result in the dreaded TD1 flag showing up at service.... resulting in no more engine/drivetrain warranty, and a furious lease provider who might use it as an opportunity to cash in. https://www.google.co.uk/?gws_rd=ssl#q=vag+td1+fla....

Lots of manufacturers now keep an eye out for remaps as it saves them money on warranty work if they spot it. Taking the map off for the service does not mean it won't be spotted.

This, but petrol. Why? Because it's by far the car I like best out of the selection, but I'd rather have a petrol engine and a manual 'box. Totally subjective, of course.

DPF will be fine unless typical journeys are so short (in time) that active regen is unable to complete.

Ia this a windup thread? Why on Earth would you be looking at a diesel?

To save £5 a week?

How about the Alfa 4C offer that has been posted in the last few pages of the Lease Deal thread?

Works out about £5k a year, 0-60 in around 4.5s, looks lovely.
