Hope anyone can throw some recommendations at me.

I currently have a current model Fiesta ST2. It unfortunately has not been the smoothest ownership so far and Im currently thinking of just returning the car back once Im able to do so. Im hoping to start saving money for future commitments aswell and im wanting to get out of the finance cycle. At the time financing a new car seemed the way to go but the overall reliability of my car has me questioning if i want to keep it long term and I also now have a work car that i use for commuting and during the day but not for personal use.

Would really appreciate if anyone could recommend a car considering what im after, budget would be anything below £4k ideally.

Ideally something Japanese or with good reliability:
Sporty or Sportyish!
Petrol and Naturally aspirated
More than 2 seats
Fairly affordable tax and maintenance costs
And a bonus would be good track potential but this would not be a deal breaker. Ive always wanted to track the ST but the value of the car has always put me off.
Ideally manual transmission

I noticed that the EP3 Type R initially seems like a good match but the values of them are steadily increasing and im not sure on the image they give off (although the ST is hardly discreet!)
Another one that seems to pop up is the 5th Gen Honda Prelude but its difficult to find a manual model.

Thanks for any help.

Good shout I do like them. However my brother has the 1.3 Attitude model and lately he has been having starter issues with that which has put me off somewhat. I think in general though they are known to be reliable.

Also wanted to add that anything with about 150bhp plus would suit nicely, coming from the ST's 180

These are nice and always liked the look of them. How are they reliability wise. Ive always been told to steer clear of Renault but never heard any horror stories about these.

They need to be looked after just like any other car, as for steering clear of Renaults that's over a decade out of date.

They're a reliable fun car & not having a turbo means less maintenance issues.
