BMW Z4 coupe vs Megane 250 Cup
Discussion
Decisions decisions...
I currently own both and one has to go and I just can't decide what to sell!
I've had the 3.0 coupe for just over a year now and the Megane for about a month
For me the Z4 is a much better everyday driver just because of the wonderful engine and the boot is actually better for golf clubs, where it falls apart is how erratic it is over bumpy roads, it has a tendency to pull you around a bit which takes some of the enjoyment out of a spirited B road drive
The Z4s biggest downfall is actually the only place the Megane really shines imo, its fantastic to throw around twisty roads and it just grips and grips HARD, however, on my daily commute (just a few miles) it is completely devoid of any soul and highlights all the worst parts of a turbo engine
Has anyone owned both? Or just a general opinion on the 2? As a final spanner in the works, what would you replace them with if I was to sell both?
Thanks for the input

I had both, and my recommendation is to sell both and buy a Boxster or Cayman 987.II (which I also had).
They give you the noise and stance that you have in the Z4, but are also a fantastic steer on country roads (or the track), without the tramlining that the Z4 has. In the boxster you have the added benefit of the roof down.

I was worried someone would say that lolThey give you the noise and stance that you have in the Z4, but are also a fantastic steer on country roads (or the track), without the tramlining that the Z4 has. In the boxster you have the added benefit of the roof down.
Been eyeing up a Cayman for a while now for exactly the reason you said, Boxster doesn't interest me as I just sold an S2K
How did you find the reliability between the Z4 and Cayman?
pretty similar - they both had their niggles, with both breaking springs (blame UK roads!), but nothing major. I had a gen 1 987, which is know for some engine failures but mine had no problems. With a gen II those problems should anyway be sorted.
In fact from a reliability point of view the megane was the more reliable of them all - just petrol and services were required. Absolutely nothing else needed repairing.
