Hi everyone,

I am IN LOVE with the Mazda RX-8 and was wondering if anyone knew any websites where I could find cheap second hand ones (5th hand for all I care!) I'd prefer automatic but they're so rare that I'm guessing it would become quite expensive.

Also, anyone got any alternatives to the Mazda RX-8 that are equally as good, or any you like.

My budget it around £1,000-1500. THANKS!

Do you want a cheap one so you can repair it or do you mean you are hoping to buy one for a bargain price?

Reason I ask is a 'cheap' rx8 will soon turn expensive, this is definitely a car to buy based on a proven history of being looked after, to a certain extent age and mileage are of less importance than knowing the car has been carefully looked after.

Though don't get me wrong decent ones are out there for £1500

As much as Id enjoy doing a repair job I honestly dont have the time to commit to one and Id end up being a waste, Id rather one that lasts for a few yeas and then when things start going wrong I can fix it all or sell (or just one whih is perfect and for some reason is being sold for pennies but hey, thats so easy to find!)

TBH even the most expensive ones aren't that costly to buy. However you look at it you will be taking a bit of a risk with engine wear/maintenance by previous owners but I do thin the RX8 gets a bad from forums and isn't as bad a often make out. People track them and get on without issues.

From my understanding of the RX8, they are a car you buy with your heart not your head. I think they look cool and meant to be a great laugh to drive.

Trouble is that rotary engine is by all accounts high maintenance. Don't like short journeys but don't return good mpg for long journeys, rebuilds are pretty common and they have a thirst for oil. I suspect that is why they are so cheap to buy.

As long as you go into ownership with an open mind and open wallet, you should be fine. smile
