Would you buy a finance repossession?
Discussion
I'm looking at a bike, around 5-800 below the usual going rate but it is a finance repossession.
It only has 1 key and no service book.
The seller has a print out from the main dealer who have looked after it from new and it is comprehensive in that sense. (cam belts and valve clearances all done recently)
A new key can be cut and coded for about £60.
Is there anything else I should be worried about?
The bike looks to be absolutely immaculate and well cared for

I'd like to know that I wasnt planning on keeping the bike in the same local area as the person who had it repo'd. Not necessarily "where does he live" but more like "I live in Milton Keynes, does he?"
Also price up getting the new key added, the single current key checked as working, and any others removed - might be pricier.

Buy on condition. A lot of finance repossessions are normal people that have hit hard times.

Buy it on condition. End of thread.
That is my current thinking, I just want to make sure there isn't a problem which I hadn't considered trickywoo said:
I assume from your cambelts description that its a Ducati.
I'd want it to be £800 less than cheapest equivalent private sale price you can find to make it worthwhile. If its a £10k+ bike I'd not tough it regardless.
Ducati 848 Evo, good guess I'd want it to be £800 less than cheapest equivalent private sale price you can find to make it worthwhile. If its a £10k+ bike I'd not tough it regardless.

If it is as described, then tbh I think it is a good deal.
The other keys being "out there" doesn't massively bother me as it will always have some form of physical security fitted. It just seems to be quite hard to find a good one with the right mileage and service history.

Thats probably a decent deal. If you were talking about a Superleggera then less so.

Not bike related but I've always asked, when buying a 2nd hand car,if it has 2 keys.
Not so much because of someone using the 'lost' key to steal it, more the £300 odd it can cost for a replacement.
I'd have no problem with a repo car, sort of stuff I buy is probably ex PCP or Lease, so how would I know it was at the end of the contract or repo'd early?
