Nice Car for 12k
Discussion
I'd say one of these is a good shout, with 4 years warranty left there's the added bonus of peace of mind.

That Alfa does look nice, bit different as well. BMW 320i may also be considered

So have you decided on a car for yourself yet?
If you like the Alfa your dad could always (they're worth a test drive) go for the Full Fat one:
2012 Alfa Giulietta TBI 43k

For me that makes it the more desirable option plus because it's a harder car to find you'll probably find that they're well looked after because someone actually wanted that car rather than pick the easy popular choice, on a personal not I don't like to see my car everywhere.
Has your dad drawn up a shortlist?

Let me get this right people on Facebook have decided the car below is overpriced?

It's a top of the range model, when you compare it to the one below which is a year older & a slightly lower spec then I'd say it's on the money plus the price is the point at which you negotiate down.

Remember these are the only two for sale with low miles, if you wanted a 200bhp hatch from 2011 onwards with less than 40k on the clock then I think you'd struggle to find something.
2011 Golf GTI 200bhp

2011 Focus ST-3 (last of the 2.5's) 37k (not the best pictures) same engine as the C30

2013 ST-3 2.0T 42k

2011 120i M Sport (I know it doesn't hit the 200bhp requirement) 34k

Or you could go for that Alfa.
I have to say that not wanting to travel will always limit what you end up with, I had to travel to a place called Turriff in Scotland to get my E500 which meant a 564 mile drive home but it was worth it as the car was as described (much better than the other two I'd seen there were only 3 for sale) & by the time I got home I knew I'd bought the right car & that's something you can't put a price on, yes it meant I'd used up (I don't like to say wasted because it wasn't by viewing them I knew I'd never wonder if I'd bought the right one) some of my time but hey ho.
