Looking at an 05 2.7 Boxster with 125k on the clock next week.

One owner from new with FPSH and apparently still on the original clutch.

This would be exactly the type of car I would be looking at if I was after a Jap car, higher miles but only a single owner that has been looked after properly.
The original clutch suggests a couple of things to me, 1 that it has been driven relatively gently and 2 that it will probably need a new clutch soon.
Are they fair assumptions?

What else should I be looking at on a high mileage Boxster?
It will be used to commute 10 miles 2-3 times a week.

Listen out for any knocking or squeaking noises from the front or rear. At that mileage I would expect all the suspension arms would be needing replaced unless already done. Also check for play in the steering as the steering arm joints can also deteriorate. The cars are pretty stiff so the suspension gets a good bashing over the years.

Also make sure the air con works. The air condensers are in a vulnerable position and can trap leaves and things and eventually rust through and leak.

Thanks, he mentioned that all 4 springs had been replaced in the last few years but I guess they are relatively inexpensive compared to the arms...
The miles are a combination of country roads and a fairly regular 300 mile round trips to London so probably average wear overall.

Search for "poverty pork" on pistonheads, and then prepare to lose about 8 hours of your life reading the whole thread.

"Poverty Pork" I love that expression, I'll get over there and have a read.

I would imagine a lot of the things you may need to consider have already been replaced once at that mileage.

My list to look for would be AOS ( air oil separator, usually lots of white smoke on start up ), disc condition ( especially the inner faces ), broken springs, suspension coffin arms and tuning forks knocking or groaning, coil packs, wet door cards, fully functioning roof mechanism, exhaust rattles/blows. Hopefully you'll see invoices for this sort of work confirming how recently it's been done if it's been required. If it's near needing a clutch, consider budgeting a bit more and have the rear main oil seal and IMS bearing inspected and replaced or upgraded while the box is out.

Best of luck, they're great cars when they're sorted.
