Why are (some) used car dealers so daft?
Discussion
Just had a poor experience on the phone, enquiring about a car the trade site was advertising.
Ok, so I had a slight misunderstanding of what he said, but there was no need for him to shout at me!
Leads me to think ... what would happen if the car had a problem after I bought it and I wanted to go back?
So, .... not naming the outfit on here, but if anyone is thinking of buying an automatic from a Scottish trader in Kent ... be aware!

Without naming and shaming we need to know more, you can't dangle and then say no more.Ok, so I had a slight misunderstanding of what he said, but there was no need for him to shout at me!

What did you say to upset him?
Let me guess....offered him 2k below his advertised price over the phone before even viewing.....
Am I close?;);)
I went to see a car for my son, had a look round it, needed some bits so started negotiations and he just got shirty, car was the top end of what they went for, needed brakes and round, and a couple of tyres, he still had it eight weeks later and had dropped the price, turned up, showed interest and tied to negotiate, there is always a compromise, but instead decided to be an arse, dont go into a job dealing with the public if you cant deal with the public.Let me guess....offered him 2k below his advertised price over the phone before even viewing.....

No, you're not close.Let me guess....offered him 2k below his advertised price over the phone before even viewing.....

I wouldn't do that kind of thing. I didn't even send him 2k over his price and ask for the difference back on Western Union.

I was merely trying to establish his opening hours, so I could go and visit, and misunderstood that he would close at 5pm not 7pm.
I wonder why some PH-ers always want to blame the OP?

I'm genuinely trying to help you guys out there. Nothing against the Scottish.
