Just looking for a bit of advice, I have seen a very nice 2008 M3 v8 convertible. Price is £20,000 with low miles. The car has has 7 owners so when I sell it will be to the 9th owner. Am I going to struggle to sell this car with 8 owners?? Should I be paying a lot less for it now?
Cheers.
Cheers.
Too many owners is never a good sign... pretty much 1 per year so not a great vote of confidence in the car.
It would be interesting to find out who they all were - I bet there's a tale to be told somewhere along the line
That said, if it all checks out then these things do happen but it would have my spidey sense tingling - tread even more carefully and let us know how you get on

personally I only pay attention if its an old car with low owners. Its not a surprise that this sort of car changes hands so much, its a high cost car and also the type of people who drive it get bored with cars more easily in my opinion. The people who really kick up a fuss are only going to find something else if it wasn't that.

Check out the mot history online and go through the service history. Hopefully you'll get an idea as to how well it has or hasn't been maintained.
Odds are with that many owners at least one will have cut corners at some point.
On a low mileage car that isn't 'that' old there shouldn't really be that many corners to cut though. But I do agree with you in other instances. Odds are with that many owners at least one will have cut corners at some point.

i don't really get the number of owners worry, i bought my 335i at 30months old and i think i was the 7th owner. p
I've bought some high owner cars but 6 owners in 2.5 years is a few too many.I was 9th or 10 th owner of my Cosworth, bought at 14 yo.
Didn't turn out well.
Also my RS1600is had owners in double figures but were older by the time I got them.

Would you have a woman that had had lots more users than the norm? Same applies to cars, unless it's a cheap one you just want to use for a quick ride and bit of fun.
Nice, Don't think in th UK ladies come with a log book with the "owners" recorded.
As for cars, it is nice to have a low number but it doesn't really matter, buy on condition and supplied evidence of work done, use it as a bargaining tool by all means but that one owner could be a right pleb, or there may have been eight decent ones.
Think on here, everyone aspires to buy a 15 year old car off some retired enthusiast with a big posh house in the Home Counties, real world isn't like that, be wary and keep an open mind.
I think I was looking at the same M3 and it put me off. But then I looked at a few more and they also had large amounts of owners. The difference is that I'm not looking for a long term car to keep, so I want a lower number of owners. If I were to keep it a year or two I wouldn't care so much.
Fwiw, for most people performance cars are only temporary cars, and its not unsusual for them to change hands every 1-2 years. I kept my 200SX for around 2 years, the S2000 for 9 months and the Cerbera for around 2 years.
Most people either don't have the storage or the funds to run a second car (£500 a year for ved!).

A friend of mine had an old 911 which had something like 15 owners on the logbook and it seems that once a year it would change ownership due to some expensive bill cropping up when he checked the service history of the motor and once the owner had got a bill or found our the true running costs it was bye bye car.
It looked like the previous owners must have had champagne taste but wanted to run the car on beer money so the car was always outed beforehand or was repaired on the cheap and to be honest the car was a total nail.
It could be the same thing with that BMW.

Id swerve it
think about the 8 reasons it has been sold,
one or two will be too expensive to run, then possibly a loss of job,.then divorce, expanding family,.
a box ticked and then sell it on?, so what about the rest then?
someones had a bit of bother with that in my opinion.
have you got the advert are there any docs in the pics? can you look on FB and get in contact with the previous owners?
if you're got the cash you've got the upper hand and can afford to be choosy,
