Little bit boring for one of these threads I
know, but my Audi A3 is doing my head in. It's done 86k and is just giving me one problem after another, and although it may be cheaper to keep the Audi on the road, the trust is going and I'm sick of throwing money at it.

So I'm gonna bite the bullet, will get 4k for my Audi, and will take out a 6k bank loan to fund a new motor.

I want a family suitable car, but maybe something a little different.

Low mileage and reliability are top priority, I do less than 10k a year so diesel is not needed but I wouldn't say no to one. More than willing to do the odd long trip to keep a diesel running smoothly.

I want a car that's fairly new (under 5 year old), with mileage under or around 30k.

There's me, the girlfriend, her two kids (9 and 6), and a baby to fit in. So a nice boot would be nice, especially come holiday time.

So far I've had the following ideas but have not looked into them much:

Subaru outback, legacy, forester
Hyundai i40 saloon

Open to all suggestions

Civic 1.8. I picked one up with a 2.5 year manufacturers warranty and 3 free services for 10.6k. 2014, with cruise control and premium audio (which I wanted), and 9k miles on the clock. 140bhp, n/a, not a rocket but plenty fast enough and quite fun to rev high and throw about. Class leading boot with fold flat back seats make it very practical. Well built with a reputation for reliability.

My grandad has a civic and just put a deposit down on a diesel 15 plate civic.

I think I would prefer a bigger car.

I'd say a Mondeo would be a great choice they're a good steer & in 2.5T/2.0T form represent a good practical choice.
If you don't mind an older low mileage version then the 2.5T is a great choice:

2007 Mondeo 2.5T Titanium X 31k

2011 2.0T Zetec

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2017...

I'd be less hung up on age & more concerned with the low mileage FSH cars.

2012 Mazda6 Sport 24k

2011 Accord ES GT 34k

2011 Insignia VXR 32k FVSH

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2017...

2012 2.0d Mondeo Titanium X Sport

As much I'd probably go for the petrol Mondeo or Mazda6 but I'd be sorely tempted by the VXR smile

You wont get a 5 year old Legacy/Forester for 10k. Not one worth having anyway.

Yeah I've noticed I'm looking at older ones with higher mileage. Shame. I love those cars. Perfect for me.

I just bought a Audi A4 Avant 2.0TFSI, 2011 car for £11500 with 54k. Plenty of 1.8TFSI A4s on Autotrader with low mileage and well priced.

What about an Octavia VRS?

Big, well built, though you may struggle to find one with the age and mileage you're after.

How about this?

http://www.usedcars.peugeot.co.uk/vehicle.aspx?wfl... (facelift)

http://www.usedcars.peugeot.co.uk/vehicle.aspx?wfl... (pre facelift)

Fits the description, still under manufacturers warranty, extended warranty will be about 230 quid per year, its got a huge boot and well equipped.
