Hi,

Planning on handing my 530d back at the end of term, have checked all the paper work out and calculated my excess mileage will be around 12000 miles (100000 total) so happy to pay the £672 that the £0.056 rate in my contract stipulates.
The only issue is the phrase "wear & tear".

My car was bought used from, serviced by and is being returned to the same BMW dealer, when they tried to sell me a new car last year and appraised my for an early switch the salesman said mine was 'very clean' and 'one of the best they see' but obviously they will sing a different song come handing back day.

Mine has 6 stone chips, some minor 'rash' on the sills from fine gravel dulling the paint and the paint is getting tired on the spokes of the wheels and is chipped / flaked in places despite not being kerbed or marked.

Anyone got any experience of this process and are the BMW dealers fairly sensible about this?

By the way it gets professionally valeted mopped and waxed by the same guy every 6 months and it shows. Inside is clean as a whistle and it's all standard factor spec throughout.

They will most likely punt the car straight to auction. If the car is as you have described I think that you should have little to worry about. I recently returned a 12 month 15000m Astra on a 12m PCP (bought as a lease) Moto Novo Finance.
I cleaned the car well, didn't polish it. The lady came to inspect and remove it to Manheim Auction. There were a few chips and some light scratching with one alloy kerbed. These were quite noticeable but she didn't mention them. What she did try to charge for was a small, very small, dull bit on the bonnet. I went and got a cloth and rubbed it and she said it was ok!
So no charges other that for an extra 80 odd miles.
Like you I was worried but needn't have been.
What the collection lady did tell me though was they got a %age of any penalties paid.
She was sub contracted by Crystal Collections.
