Hi guys, my friend is starting a new job and has been given a budget of £13k with the proviso it must be less than 1 year old, 10-15k on the clock, 4-seats ( 3 door ok ) petrol and automatic. But fun to drive..... Any ideas??

Aren't the autos on these ones supposed to be pretty dire? I've never driven one but i'm sure that's what most people have said about it.

Rear-engined, RWD Twingo with a little turbocharged engine should definitely make it fun biggrin

This was going to be my suggestion too - not sure what the auto is like, my son has a manual and it's a scream!

Ive driven one and I loved it, think the noise might have helped sway my judgement a bit though laugh. To me the best sounding 4 cylinder around atm.

You should here the Alfa Mito QV then that car has drama I don't think it's as sharp as the 500 due to it being a bit bigger & longer but it does have some serious shove.

I recall evo tested the Twingo and it was very disappointing - not that quick, and the handling was completely tied down and dull because (I presume) 'elf and safety in Renault HQ deemed a layout that could perhaps have handled like a mini-911 on a wet road to be faaaaaar too dangerous for Doris and her bingo buddies, and subsequently added layers and layers of electronic stability control that can't be switched off.

Boooo.

I have heard the same. To be honest, i did assume that, with it being so light, you wouldn't even feel the benefits of it being rear-engined and rear-driven. So, this actually becomes more of a hindrance as apposed to a plus point. I bet the auto gearbox is pretty dire aswell.

However, regardless of all this, it still looks like a great, fun little car to me for the money.
