A what car thread - supermini with large boot for £5K
Discussion
After my niece's 2011 Suzuki Swift was written off by an elderly drunk, she has about £5K to spend on a replacement. Due to babies etc it needs to have a big boot, much bigger than the Swift's paltry 211 litres.
The best I have found so far is a Honda Jazz with 337 litres, or Fabia with 315.
Can anyone else suggest safe, decent cars in the same class with similar luggage capacities.

We've owned a Jazz for the past 4 years.
Nothing has gone wrong with it. Nothing. It gets serviced once a year, has had tyres and brake pads and that's it.
It genuinely is a great car for transport, the magic seats are excellent, indeed ours swallowed a washing machine with ease that we couldn't get through the tailgate of our Volvo V60...
They're not going to set the world on fire with dynamics but they're a decent car for trouble-free motoring.

Why not just go a size up such as a Focus/Civic/Mazda3 all have large boots.

We have a Nissan Note for family runabout duties.
The sliding rear seat gives boot space upto 411 litres with less rear legroom or 325 litres with plenty of rear legroom. My wife finds this really useful especially as she sometimes transports her elderly parents around too.
It has a 1.5DCi engine which so far has been very reliable and does over 60mpg on average. Only one issue we have at the moment is the electric folding mirrors keep popping a fuse!
Ours is quite high spec with sat nav, Bluetooth, leather, auto wipers and lights, parking sensors electric mirrors etc. etc. It is 8 years old now too.
I would recommend one.
