Buying a used car - trade in vs we buy any car
Discussion
Swapping the current hatchback Alfa for something a bit larger and more comfortable.
Trying to work out my budget using autotradwe suggested trade in value and we buy any car.
Auto trader suggest a trade in of £6350.
We buy any car is initial value of £7155.
Has anyone used WBAC and if so, do they end up offering a considerable difference on the initial online quote?
I've listed all the damage on it, so wondering what else they might spot that I haven't, as I'm surprised it's so much more than suggested trade in value

Autotrader is really bad when it comes to PX values, it would be interesting to see how they calculated there figures given they a not even close to CAP. However occasionally they go completely the other way and over value.
That's good to know, maybe wbac is closer to the mark JZZ30 said:
Thank you - that's perfect! I sold my V50 last year to "The Car Buying Group". Quote done online(Tuesday) then a follow up phone appraisal(Weds), haggled a bit on price.
Slight raise in price with no admin fees unlike WBAC.
On Friday they sent someone to inspect and uplift the car but not until the money was paid by BACS.
A bit nerve wracking as a first timer but all went fine with no hassles.
Car was collected from me in SW Scotland and taken to BCA Leeds.
What I liked compared to WBAC: No fees, they do all the running so if your visual appraisal is honest they do all the running around and show commitment to buy so the ball is in your court unlike WBAC where you go to them.
My car was a 6yr old V50 with 130000m.

I used WBAC last year and was happy the process. Was upfront on the description of the car online, and advised of any marks, chips in the paint work. I think they knocked off £50 for one I missed but was pretty close to the quote price. Money transferred into my account after a couple of days. You can always go to WBAC go through the process, and see what they actually will offer you. You dont need to accept and can walk away if you want. I think the process took about 30mins which was simple.
Have sold 2 cars via WBAC and both times they offered nearly as much as I was asking for but failed to achieve via private sale, and much more than what the dealers ever offered. If you're honest and the car is as you say, they honour the price. On the second car I sold, they found a paint dink on the door edge and subtracted £60 which is more than reasonable as it would cost more than that to repair. You can also try tootle as you'll get an idea where the dealers are bid
