I've currently got a Saab 9000 which I fully intend to keep but its useless around the city, too long to park and too thirsty on petrol.
I want something mega cheap to run as a second car, preferably something that's quite engaging to drive, I've had a couple small city cars including a Twingo GT which had a good engine but lacked any real steering feel and pedals that don't feel like they're connected to anything. The other being a '92 Panda in which everything was manual (steering, brakes, carb'd), which even though it was horrendously slow it was incredibly fun to rag about in.

Tl;dr I want something cheap (sub £600 preferably) to run around town in but needs to be engaging to drive, don't care about its cosmetic condition just mechanicals.
Doesn't need to be fast, what are your suggestions?

Puma or if the tax is a bit high for you a 1.25 Fiesta - great fun either way

Puma I'm assuming on the pre 2001 system of over 1.5L so it'd be the same rate I pay on the Saab.... I have heard Pumas are fun to the point that I nearly bought a yellow one 2 years ago but probably wouldn't get much better fuel consumption than my Saab around the city I imagine.
Which gen Fiesta? Never been a massive fan of the styling if I'm honest but its an option, are they as rusty at the mk1 Ka's?

I have actually found Aygos to be a pretty fun drive in the city but not sure if they can be had for that price
