Looking for a nice diesel hatch to upgrade from my Bora 1.9TDi. Cant really seem to find anything interesting that fits the criteria of being a diesel but also decent on insurance for a young driver (similar insurance group to the bora) and a 3 door.

Only have these in mind right now:
Astra H 1.7CDTI
207 1.6HDI

Anyone have any other ideas? Preferably similar power to the bora's 100hp (or easily up-gradable)

Reason for it having to be a diesel is I do high mileage daily.

Thanks

Seat Ibiza with the 2.0 CR TDI engine has 140bhp stock and available as both 3 and 5 door models. Like this one

Previous generation was available in 160bhp Cupra and 130bhp FR trims with the 1.9 PD TDI engine if that suits your budget a bit more.

If they are a bit small then Golf GTTDI or Leon Cupra TDI are a size bigger and both have 150bhp 1.9 PD TDI engines.

I picked up a Skoda Fabia VRS when I was 19. It's a fantastic fun wee car, a couple of cheap mods gets it handling well and in the lightweight chassis the 130bhp PD motor pulls like a truck, also very easily tunable with lots of resources out there.

Or Seat Ibiza FR 1.9TDI (or Cupra which is 150bhp) or Polo sport 1.9tdi, all the same motor. At the time I found the Fabia was the cheapest one to insure and my favourite of the 3.

If that's the case why post on a thread about something you hate? Surely you'd ignore it.

I stand corrected, the polo diesel wasn't a GTx model, it was just a Sportline. Point still stands the pd130 VAG hatches are a solid option.

The Astra H 1.7 CDTI is a good bet, its a decent engine that doesnt guzzle oil, the Pugs 1.6 HDI engine can be problematic if its not been regulary (and on the mileage) serviced so if you are going for one then look for one with fsh.

It was badged GT. I had one for a couple of years / 40,000 miles. It was OK.
