Need a car for three months (Sep-Dec)
Discussion
Current lease expires in late September and not expecting delivery of new Cupra until around Christmas.
Was thinking of taking on someone's lease for a few months... or should I just buy a banger for £1k? Problem is I have two young children and want something safe and preferably pretty new... so taking on a £200-£300 a month lease for a few months seems like a preferable option.
What would you do if you needed a car for just three months? Don't say take the bus!

I'm in the same boat as we can't commit to a new lease right now but expect to be able to get into something in time for the 18 release.
My plan was to go back to bangernomics. I was carrying the kids around in an '04 CRV and and '06 MX5 prior to taking this Tiguan on anyway. I was planning on scratching some itches - SAAB 9-5 turbo, R53 MCS.
As it happens, the B-i-L has stopped using the M-i-L's R53 Cooper auto so we're going to use that. Not quite as exciting, but as it's come to us on loan I figure that still means I can keep an eye out for a Mk1 TT. Right?!

Whats the cost of hiring a car for a few months?
About £400 a month i saw for a Polo with local hire company who i have used a few times. At least with a banger you can sell and get most of the money back at the end. At least that is my thinking if the Cupra is delayed once exisiting lease goes back (unfortunately no option of extending lease through work provider)
Cheers for all your comments... must admit I am slightly tempted by an old RX-8 or something.
It may be the way I decide to go... not doing many miles (15 a day) so I'm sure a banger could handle that.
I did look into three month lease options and they were just too pricey... like £500 a month for an Astra. And extending my current lease deal is a no-no unfortunately, I did ask.
