I've read mixed messages on this so not sure on where you stand legally.

For example I lease a car in my name and then my son takes out the insurance as the policy holder and main driver while I'm a named driver.

Is that legal? Will insurances accept it?

If not could I be the policy holder but put him as the main driver, only downside is he wouldn't get the no claims bonus.

Thanks,
Dave

No problem with that. My current lease is through my wife's work, so it's in her name. I'm the policy holder and main driver, lease company down as the owner/keeper.

Yep, I have had no issues either. I lease both cars in my name and I insure one and the wife the other.

Not had to claim but cant see there being an issue as I am named on the policy but as far as insuring goes, no problem.

My wife's current daily is leased solely to myself and she is main driver with me as named driver on insurance. Insurance company know it's owned by and registered to leasing company. No issues.
