Was browsing the forecourt of my local Porsche dealer last weekend and they had outside a rather nice 718. It was an S model and had upgraded alloys, etc. It didnt look "over spec'd". Total price £69,000???

No doubt they're selling 718s as fast as they can make them but £69,000 for a Boxster??

Has the world gone mad?

The prices of some upper-end cars have gone insane. Demand from China and India is pushing up prices. 69k for something that is not particularly fast or pretty and sounds like a sewing machine is crazy.

If you don't add any extras then a 718s can be had for £50k , unfortunately people like to spec their cars and Porsche being Porsche like to put a nice cost to these items.
Not particularly fast? Faster than any previous S or GTS , even the standard 718 is quicker than the 981 GTS.
For price still nothing in the same league for speed and handling.

Its the fact that somebody will go in and buy that car at £69,000 that bemuses me. That just seems like crazy money for what is the "entry level" car.

Ha - go on the configurator - 69k isn't even going mad on one of these. It will get you some nice wheels, a decent colour, seats, upgraded speakers, sports exhaust, upgraded lights , parking camera, extended leather. add ceramic brakes for another 5k, a few bits of carbon and painted trims you could easily be at 90k plus.

Pushing it to get it to 90K, that's ticking every single box
