£4k useable classic

Say you had £4k that you wanted to spend on a classic car, and it had to meet the following criteria:

Made before 1992
RWD
Not prone to massive rust issues barring expected corrosion on an old car
Useable on a semi daily basis
Not a convertible
Auto or manual, no preference

What would you get? A 2.6 190e is probably what I'd aim for. A nice 325i would be lovely, but E30's have risen to silly money it seems now.

I've never had one, but I understand them to be pretty bulletproof.
