Age v Mileage?
Discussion
Chaps. Looking at buying a Civic Type R FN2. My budget is around 10k, but I think I'd rather spend a little less.
Which of the following examples would you buy?
- 60-70k miles, 2009, around 6500-7000.
- 50kish miles, 2011, around 8500.
- 30-40k miles, 2009, around 8500-9500.
- 70kish miles, 2010, around 7000.
Also considering the Championship White Edition (rare paint and lsd) - 2009, 70k miles, 8500.
Thinking either the CW or a 65k miles 2009 for around 7k. I don't really have any reliability worries re. the engine, but is a car around 70k miles likely to be expensive to maintain in terms of needing a new clutch/brakes/suspension parts etc?
Would buy one with three or less previous owners and FSH.
Cheers

Surely service history is more important than mileage.
Indeed, and I have looked at a few of these and often are in poor condition, but if all had fully stamped service books, and were in good nick, which would you buy? Would you spend an extra two grand for 30k less miles or for a couple of years newer? Integroo said:

I wouldn't spend an extra £2k on a newer car unless it was a facelifted version of whatever model I was after with new interior/tech etc. I would imagine that, providing it has a full service history, 30k miles is not going to make much of a difference. Of those listed I'd go for the cheapest providing they are all on par service history wise. If the cheapest one then goes wrong you at least have the money you saved left over to get it fixed.ZX10R NIN said:
The prices are so close on the Championship Models I'd go for the one with the lower miles haggle a bit & you might get a bit off.
Indeed, just the lower miles one was 173 miles away! Perhaps I can get the closer one down to around 8k, or haggle a good deal on the trade in. Gassing Station | Car Buying | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
