Ok, I know the title is somewhat of a contradiction. I've been given a fairly narrow criteria to go out and buy a new company car... but having driven Porsches, M3s, Lotus and (mainly) convertibles for my life I'm somewhat at a loss as I want something fun and everything I look at makes me want to fall asleep...

The criteria are:
- Diesel
- 4/5 door
- up to 15 months old
- up to15k mileage
- £20k max

I know it's a dilemma many of us face, but what would you choose?

We have a 330d as a company car thanks to the beauty of depreciation you can have one of them for half the RRP they are new which fits in your budget.

As a company car it's fast, wouldn't say it's the most "fun" but as diesel's go it's pretty entertaining whilst still doing a fair job of shuffling up and down the motorways. My tip make sure you get the Msport+ brakes

Or perhaps something like - https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...

Haggle on the price a bit and you're unlikely to find anything quicker or more capable within your requirements. Is it fun? Depends on your definition I suppose, but they're bloody quick.

There are a few options but whether they're fun will depend on what you want from (the best real fun standard diesel I've driven is the Megane RS dci but they don't make that anymore but the latest Focus ST diesel came close) your car:

Golf GTD is pretty good, comes with a lot of kit standard as well. If you go for a 65 plate and above one you will get keyless entry, winter pack and discover nav as standard as well

Agreed on the GTD. Just coming into the last few months of my 65 plate and have really enjoyed driving this. As fun as you could get from a Diesel to be honest.

The ST is a better steer than the Golf in this case & it gets a proper move on, the one thing the Golf does have over it is that the Golf can be had with an auto but seeing as you want a fun steer the manual should be fine.
